Alabama lottery debate: Senators try to reach compromise on 2 proposals
Alabama senators on Wednesday remained divided on lottery proposals as they tried to strike compromise on gambling that has so far been elusive.
Senators began debate on dueling lottery proposals. One bill is a proposal backed by Gov. Robert Bentley to establish a state lottery. The other would authorize a lottery and also allow electronic lottery terminals which can be similar to slot machines or video poker at four state dog tracks.
I think there is a chance that we will get something t

Wyoming Lottery expansion faces hurdles despite state money woes
As Wyoming loses millions of dollars in revenue from its declining minerals extraction industry, the state lottery has started paying off by distributing some of its profits to cash-strapped cities and towns.
A member of the board that oversees the Wyoming Lottery says the state might want to look at an expansion to tap even more revenue. But that would require expanding the type of games allowed a prospect that faces long odds in a Legislature wary of encouraging compulsive gambling.

Pennsylvania lottery wins to be taxed, if legislation passes
Winning the Pennsylvania Lottery may be a little less lucrative in a proposal that would allow the state to take a share of the jackpot through income tax.
Currently, such winnings are exempt from the state's personal income tax.
What does that mean in practice?
Let's use January's $1.5 billion Powerball jackpot as an example. For those who opted for the hypothetical lump sum the final $1.6 billion take was split between three winners of about $940 million, the feds would withhold a com

Deal struck, Illinois Lottery winners to be paid
It only passed the House, the Senate votes on it next week.
From the OP:
The Senate is scheduled to return to the Capitol on Monday to vote on the legislation, which was hailed by government groups.
It will probably pass but right now winning tickets are still IOUs.

Illinios Lottery keeps going down hill
No, I'm not optimistic about a budget getting passed soon. I am optimistic about the 2 winners who filed suit winning their case, I'm not sure how long until that one comes before a judge. The comptroller is already signing some payroll checks based on court orders.
I haven't heard anything more about Jack Franks introducing legislation to allow lottery payments, but I'd bet that passes before a budget does.
Yeah, I'd like to see the thing about no big prize scratch-offs in writing, f

Arizona $188.9M Powerball winner claims prize
'Earlier this year, state lawmakers overwhelmingly approved a bill that prevents lottery winners' identities from being released for 90 days after a prize claim. However the new law doesn't take effect until July 3.
The Arizona Lottery in this case appears to have granted the Powerball winner the rights allowed under the new legislation, even though it is not yet officially enacted.'
At long last, some Common Sense!

State lotteries head to Washington to enforce states' rights on gambling
No, the Federal Government don;t need any more new rule or regulations to steal any more freedom of choice from people. We are adults, here lately our government, as gone to far with their restricting adult activity. The don't give us credit, that we're wise enough to know what we really want to do. or credit to make our own decisions. Our Government, is inching closer to the line of no return. It seem to be head toward taking FREE WILL away. A right the Almighty give not them. Enough is enough.

State lotteries head to Washington to enforce states' rights on gambling
There are no federal restrictions on state lotteries because the Fifth Court of Appeals ruled the Interstate Wire Act only applies to sports betting. That same ruling is why the Massachusetts Lottery can offer subscriptions.
It would be far more sensible to allow people to play legitimate state lotteries.
The future is online lottery wagering, but it will be awhile before there will be interstate online lottery wagering because that does require state agreements and/or Federal legislatio

Six States Losing Millions In Revenue
Before Oklahoma had the lottery, players had to to go Texas Kansas. One of the reason it took Oklahoma so long was the casinos owners. They ended up passing the bill but with ridiculous legislation that's why Oklahoma scratchers can't exceed $5 for $40,000.00 and we can't have a state lotto jackpot game.
From the Oklahoma lottery
We would love to offer an Oklahoma only draw game with a rolling jackpot. However, current legislative restrictions and limited sales make it impossible for us t
