It did not take long for the pop ups to catch up with Windows 10. Microsoft is already releasing fixes for security issues. This is not to say everyone will be affected. The pop ups got to the older Windows 8 machine that I had set aside a year or so ago. Got so bad, browsing was like 1988 with a 2400 baud modem. Have Microsoft Office but didn't want to go through all the conversions, add on, compatibility packs etc. thanks for you work! glad we have such generous members here at LP who don't mind helping other users out! Members who program as a hobby shouldn't distribute their programs since there are many bugs that can pop up that the regular users aren't willing to deal with and they expect the programmers to correct them even if they aren't professionals. I don't know... unfortunately I have been infected by the ransom virus and all my downloads and documents have been encrypted... I supposedly removed the virus with microsoft security scanner but the files are garbled, if anyone has suggestions I'd appreciate it.

If you stick with Windows XP and IE8 you will see those error messages more and more. Microsoft could not have made things more clear that they do not support Windows XP any more, and that you should not be using it. The technology behind secure websites continues to change, but Windows XP and IE8 are not being changed with the new features. If you insist on keeping it, you will have to cope with annoying error messages and glitches.
