Powerball and Mega Millions both had $10 million increase
When ever PB and MM jackpots are with $10-$20M of each other, PB is going to come up short because the odds per dollars spent of winning something are so much for MM plus MM cash value is probably more.

$305 MILLION: Powerball lottery jackpot in rare territory
Thanks. (And thanks to mcginnin, too.) Oh, I'm glad to see that the chance of a rollover is so great. Not that I'd particularly care in the unlikely event that I should capture the jackpot - a much smaller sum would suit me just fine. But I have to admit I enjoy the craziness of the huge jackpots!

If you won the PB or MM
I'm working on winning one of those jackpots before I start planning on how to spend it. I hear once you win one, there's no end to the number of people willing to help or advise you on how to spend it.

Lotto Losers Lounge - Rant & Discussion
Ronnie that is funny what you said about twice a week! I look at the jackpots every week, and think if I don't at least try to get a ticket, i might miss out on a prize to lift some financial burdens, so if I have the money, I want in one one of the draws!!

How many hits you need?
No, Thrifty I don't and I am not looking for it either. I can turn alot of hits in the course of a month, that is more realistic for me than hitting the jackpot. And while I am at it, and wouldn't hurt to look at the big jackpots either.

states winning
If the idea of lottery games was to redistribute wealth, the lower income states would be winning all the jackpots. When was the last time a clerk demanded to know your annual salary before selling you a ticket?

Could We Use Another Big Game Lottery??
It's like a Pumpi thread, but with a cast of characters that's only slightly less insane. If you're looking to start a lottery game to rival the two big ones in terms of jackpot size, I'm not sure the market can support a third big game. You'd probably be better off with a game with smaller jackpots (say, a million dollars) but better odds (say, a 5/35 or 5/39 matrix). If you can show that multiple jackpots can be won with every drawing, you just might get a popular game. You would have

Report: Ill. lottery manager short $100M on profit
I've been waiting to see if there's any blowback from Powerball upping their cost from $1 to $2; this may be the first sign of an issue. I know powerball's idea was bigger initial jackpot, quicker to huge jackpots where more people play, more publicity, more money to states vendors ; I'm thinking this might not be the case afterall...

How many people play PB or MM regardless of the Jackpot size?
I do not like to play the lottery like a lab rat. Therefore I play when the mega millions and powerball jackpots reach $100M annuity.
