Michigan church wins $70,000 in lottery
Two things about this article makes me feel good. 1. I guess not all churches feel it's a sin to play the lottery. I have been trying to find it in the bible (anything about gambling I guess) and can't find it. 2. I still owe the church ten percent of the $4 I just won on a scratcher. (yes i'm serious) I believe, unless I win BIG and have to write off a HUGE church donation requiring some sort of receipt, theres no way my church will know that the money came from some kind of lott

Higher or Lower
You are correct. Using this information (and refining it for my particular state) has helped me with picking straights when used in conjuction with an article that I read that Bob Perkis wrote called, The Only Way to Win Pick-3 . I am doing the Positional Tracking along with Positional Wheeling so that I can predict straights. It does cost a lot as your initial investment is typically several hundred dollars. For example, yesterday I ended up with 443 numbers and the winning straig

PA Millionaire Raffle
Your welcome, and good luck to everyone else who's playing. I happened to see the Lottery made an announcement yesterday, and according to their count at noon yesterday, they sold a solid 4000 tickets in just over 2 hours. Either they misrepresented how many have sold, or sales have picked up. Here's part of the article FWIW: Less Than 68,000 Tickets Remain for $5,089,200 in Prizes to 6,000 Winners MIDDLETOWN, Pa., July 2 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On July 4, the Pennsylvania Lotter

N.J. Lottery goes from zero to highest tax rate in the USA
At first I thought this article was some kind of joke. I cannot believe this....and I live in South Carolina where being taxed on everything is a way of life. This retroactive thing is what REALLY sucks. These lawmakers are nothing more than snake oil salesmen. Those that won before July should band together and sue the state! This is just disgusting.....it's like giving a child a present and then once he opens it telling him he has to give some of it back. What about the poor souls

Lottery winners broke, busted
But this man never was a millionaire! He simply won a $1 million ANNUITY; which only paid out a gross of $50,000/year over 20 years. Now let's look at that beginning $50,000 ... subtract the high New York Lottery STATE tax (possibly a county tax too) of at least 10%, PLUS simultaneously subtract the high FEDERAL lottery taxes of 31%. Hum, how much is the probable net remainder after taxes that this man gets to keep for spending, investing, or saving? The remainder amount is a maximum of only

One ticket wins massive $232M Powerball lottery jackpot
In response to the above remark about FL Lottery tax by Empress... The only requirement by law is that the Florida Lottery deduct 25% from the payment and report the win to the IRS and send you a W2-G. After that, they do not tax winners anything. It would be against State Law. Some states with no income tax do tax interest dividends like NH and TN. Texas has no state tax at all like Florida. But both Texas and Florida have very high property tax. I looked (online) at several homes in Harris

Tax protection question
An LLC doesn't stop the obligation of paying taxes. He is still gonna be forced to have 25% withheld by the feds and 8.5% withheld by DC. Plus he is still gonna have to make estimated taxes on the remainder until he fulfils the 35% commonly charged to the top bracket The way a LLC works is it helps keep the individual anoymous to an extent. It also protects the indidual from greedy people trying to make an easy buck via frivolous lawsuits, etc. The LLC is a seperate entity in a way than a sim

New report criticizes Iowa Lottery security
Ridiculous. Iowa runs one of the best lotteries in the country, having effectively removed any possibility of fraud or corruption within their corporate structure. The Iowa Lottery doesn't even conduct their own drawings - they use Illinois's numbers for their lotto and daily games. Apparently, from what I read in the article, the problem rests with dishonest retailers who don't feel compelled to pay their winners, but the Iowa Lottery can't be held responsible for the criminal behav

why Powerball result is so coincident
FYI, here are a couple of articles on FL Powerball sales. http://www.news-press.com/article/20090108/NEWS01/90108064/1002 The Florida Lottery today announced that Powerball ticket sales for the first drawing totaled $7,730,306; more than any other state s first draw sales in Powerball history. http://www.tampabays10.com/news/state/story.aspx?storyid=99851 catid=19 The multi-state game raked in more than $50 million in ticket sales during the first month

Colorado Lottery investigates 21-time prize winner
What is your obsession with this? There is absolutely zero basis to think he may not be reporting the prizes, except that we all know that some people don't report some of their income. Similar reasoning means I can safely conclude that you may be a serial killer and have a penchant for animal abuse and porn. FWIW, it's not any public information that would get the IRS involved, it's the notification by the lottery about all of the winnings (for everybody, not just this guy) that are big enou
