I totally agree that it's people who make things a headache. If I were to win something like Powerball, the majority would go into laddered treasury bills, with some in an S P 500 index fund. The last thing I would do is start my own business or invest in any sort of risky business venture. The cash value is only running at 10% of what it would be when it was at $2.00 a line. 90% of all other cash jackpots were much higher by this time in the jackpot run. I tend to think that the Economic Impact Payments aka Stimulus Checks, played a huge role in growing big jackpots. There was so much liquidity in the market and people gambled more. Overall discretionary spending has reduced in the current environment that we are in. It's almost as if probability only suggests what's likely and not what will actually happen, isn't it? I think when they sold us Faster growing jackpots they forgot to factor in what could actually happen i.e the jackpot being won sooner. But again, everything is still in its infancy, so we can afford to give them the benefit of doubt. Looking forward to a $3.5 billion jackpot. I would take the annuity if I win that

Mega Millions is advertising bigger jackpots because they know that in the long run, this sort of thing won't happen. Mega Millions jackpot increases
They told us that the jackpot would grow faster with the matrix change. That doesn't seem to be the case. The latest jackpot increase is $14MM. The odds of winning the jackpot better than before. I don't see how we are going to get bigger jackpots. It is clear fewer people are playing.

Office Pool conceptReply
My buddy runs an office pool. According to him, you will never get more than 100 people to join. You would be doing well to get 50. He has had as many as 100 people join for particularly large jackpots. But he has been doing it for years. As new people join, others give up and quit. Therefore the pool never gets that large. But then again, you do not need a big group. Even with only 10 people, you have increased your chances of winning 10 fold. Good luck!
