It's time the lottery needs to stop releasing a person name and picture when a big win is won!
Hi Nydebbie,
In my state we cannot be anonymous. If I ever won a jackpot I plan to go to the news conference with a paper bag over my head and would also use a paper bag when Lottery Headquarters takes my picture. I am someone who rarely lets anyone take my picture so thank goodness there are not many photos of me around and I have no Facebook. You are correct about the danger of lottery winners who cannot be anonymous. I feel it poses a great danger to jackpot winners. There needs to be legi

Why Americans Will Quit ( Gambling ) Playing The Lottery?
If gambling was something new, I'd be more inclined to agree with you, but today's gambling is just a restructuring of older forms of gambling. Jack Dempsey bet his entire purse of $27,000 he would knock out Jess Willard in the first round in their 1919 title fight. That year betting on baseball was so common several ball players were banned for fixing games including 8 members of the Chicago White Sox who fixed World Series games.

Kentucky Lottery finally able to advertise where the money goes
It was a compromise because there were lots of groups against having a state lottery. It was similar type of hypocrisy as the Illinois, Missouri, and Indiana casino legislation; just not as silly. The casinos had to be on boats and the boats had to be on water even if it was in a moat. I was on the Hollywood casino boat when they started engines, untied the moorings, and backed up ten feet because the law the boats must operational. They even issued boarding passes on boats going nowhere and the

Illinois to fire private lottery operator
The proverbial final straw may have come last spring, when reports came out that the firm was running $716 million short of its revenue target nine months into fiscal 2014.
Lotteries are cash cows, but if they want to kill the cow, Revenue targets will do it every time. Some states actually created legislation that requires their lotteries to meet certain goals even if it means taking a higher cut from the players.
When some states started discussing outsourcing their lottery games, the qu

For some, Illinois Lottery app makes ticket-buying too easy
The lottery's ability to go online was tucked into a 2009 state law that authorized a statewide construction program by raising taxes and fees on liquor, driver's licenses and candy bars.
Nice one.
Expansion of the lottery (tax) hidden in a tax increase legislation for an unrelated construction project as an earmark!

Oh no this isn't good for future lottery winners thinking about moving money to offshore banks..
The Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) is having a negative impact on the U.S. economy, U.S. financial markets, American businesses operating abroad and American citizens who work and reside overseas.
American Citizens Abroad (ACA) is working hard to educate the legislature and decision makers to inform them of the many dangers of FATCA. Recently legislators and the media have come out in strong opposition to FATCA, some advocate for repeal, others for revisions of the regulations. Al

It's not nonsense its common sense.
Certain gambling winnings are taxable income and that includes lottery winnings. And like most Federal laws, Congress wrote the bills, passed the legislation, and the President signed it into law. As I tried unsuccessfully to explain to you before, no U.S. President can Constitutionally repeal laws enacted by Congress.

If you won either the MM/PB JP: How soon would you claim your prize?
Claiming using a blind trust is reason enough to justify needing a lawyer because with a blind trust you won't know how much money you have and where and how it's invested. Blind trusts are usually used by Legistlators so they won't be accused of creating legislation to benefit their financial holdings.
The only benefit of claiming anonymous is your name won't be published, but the name and location of the store selling the ticket will be published. The people at the lottery will know your bu

On March 12, 2013, An Ohio House committee today approved legislation that would essentially outlaw Internet cafes in Ohio. The bill's next stop is the Ohio House floor before the measure is sent to the Senate.
Police raided a Liberty Township Internet cafe in late February, arresting two employees for operating an illegal gambling house. Law-enforcement officers confiscated 33 gambling machines, a large amount of m
