Mega Millions paltry increase ($12M -> $14M)
Coin Toss, I would've revived your old thread, but it was closed. You were surprised it only increased to $15M. Now it's only $14M.
Last time there was an increase this small was July 4, 2006.
So, what, I guess ($12 - 13M) is next?

Regarding Lottery pools: What if you do this??Increase your Chances of Winning
Let s say you have: $60 a week to join a pool group to play lottery pool....Well i dont know is there are pools who will take: $10 a week [i am not a pool expert], but what if you took the $60 a week and divided it into: $10 and join: 6 different lotto pool teams...That way you increase your chances...Even if you share is smaller...You will be employing the: Is better to win anything than not to win at all kind of philosophy ...
What do you all think...
What to remind everyone that: POOLIN

Powerplay, Yay or Nay
It's mostly personal preference. By spending twice as much on powerplay you increase the value of the prize (except the jackpot, of course), but you don't increase your chances of winning one of the prizes.
If the powerplay turns out to be 2 you'd clearly be better off using the extra $1 to play the same 5 numbers with a different power ball. If you win a prize other than the jackpot you double the amount you win by winning on both tickets, plus the extra ticket gives you twice the chance of

$170 MILLION: Mega Millions lottery jackpot raised
Since I said figuring a bit conservatively I'd imagine something along these lines it's 100% accurate. I wouldn't be at all suprised if it grows a bit faster, especially if we do see 2 more rolls, but I think you're living in the past if you think it will jump to 210 on the next roll. Last May it went from 166 to 196, which is essentially the same as 170 to 200, but that was with higher interest rates. At that time an annuity increase of 30 million meant sales of about $56 million . Right now it

Hi jgdr,
The lottery makes enough profit by controlling how much it pays out times how much it collects that is why they increase the lotto numbers from 49-53 change it to twice a week then change the jackpot from 7mil-3mil, but before they did that they had to change the starting jackpot down to 6 mil, so you would not notice the difference in the pay out but the same amount of people that use to play once a week now plays twice a week also the change by how much it increase after no wi

How high could Powerball or MM get??
Theoretically the game could just keep rolling over forever and never have another jackpot winner. Once it reaches a previous record level PB caps the increase at $25 million, but that increase will apply every drawing until there is a winner. For MM the increase will be based on actual ticket sales. It's possible that either game could go well past a billion.
Anyone who says that almost all the combinations have been bought either doesn't really have a clue or has a funny idea of what almost

Dear Governor Rendell
The odds for jackpot of the PA Cash 5 game will go from 575,757 to 962,598 or a 1.67 increase.
The starting jackpot for the New Cash 5 will change from $100,000 to $125,000 or a 1.25 increase.
My feeling is...if the decided to absolutely make a change to the game do it with 42 balls (3 extra balls) the odds would have been 850,668 a 1.47 increase...4 extra balls indicates that they don't care because they know they will have their way... people will still play this game

MM jackpot turns out to be $390m
The cap on PB is a limit on how much it can increase each time it rolls. Once the previous record is reached it can go up by no more than $25 million (annuity, of course) for the subsequent drawing. The previous PB record was 365, so if it rolls past 365 it will be limited by the lesser of actual sales or the $25 million cap. If it rolls to the mid-200's a subsequent roll could take it past 365 without reaching 395. If sales take it to 387 and it rolls again the cap would limit the next draw t

Powerball: Is even harder....
Let me elaborate a little bit more..I said: And if they want to make more money they don't have to increase the matrix, just attract more players
If they want to increase the money been awarded, they can just go ahead and do it, they don't have to increase the matrix...they will still profit....But what i think the state does is that the money been awarded in the lottery is correspondent (proportional) to a certain percentage of total amount of odds the particular game offers...This is how
