Kansas Mega Millions winner claims jackpot anonymously
Yea, and how do you know that the person with the winning ticket might be from a couple of towns over? That's what I do when the jackpots get up over 100 million. Also, I suspect even if the winner is from Ottawa they will at least move far away, and maybe even move out of the country, and take his money with him via an offshore LLC and trust. And when you win that much you can afford to not sell your house for a good little while I 'spect.

Anyone else find the jump in MM j/p surprising?
Tomorrow's PB jackpot is actually OVERFUNDED by $1.4 million (based on estimated draw sales of $30 million), but PB has to steal from the jackpot fund at times in order to maintain its emergency fund to pay the secondary prizes in excess of allocated funds as well as guaranteed jackpots. Per their rules, they can skim as much as 2.5% of draw sales from the jackpot in order to maintain its set prize/guaranteed jackpot reserve.

You're getting it now, Stack47. In fact, the last two Powerball jackpots awarded (the guaranteed pots of $60 million and $70 million annuity) were in the red.

Texas Cash 5 drawing machine
I play Cash 5 sporadically. The jackpots kinda suck for the odds of the game. I play P4 often for $5 straight. 10000 to 1 odds, no parimutuel.

Mega Millionaire 'Bunky' Bartlett offers advice to winners
LOL nice pic. This idiot wants people to send him more money for his own personal business ventures so that he doesn't go broke? Yeah Ok...I will get right on that. No wonder he lost so much money, that is what he gets for jumping right into the limelight, which has zero benefits. I do agree with the annuity though, especially for large jackpots, way less to worry about and less that you can lose all at once.

When I use to travel out of state to buy BigGame and PowerBall tickets, I would always buy advanced tickets because the time and cost of travel cost more than the tickets. I imagine there were players who brought advanced tickets to avoid the time and hassle of buying tickets again if the jackpot rolled. I would expect that because large jackpots attract people who don't play the lotteries regularly.

Powerball Vs Mega Millions
Oh yeah, I remember this happened to Powerball seven years ago this time. At the time, the opening jackpot was $10 million, and there were seven winners of jackpots $45 million in a three month span. However, after it ended, PB came back and rolled sixteen times to a jackpot of $220 million, which was a big deal at the time. Sixteen rolls of the current PB structure will put the game at a new record jackpot, as I highly doubt the pot will increase by only $10 million once it gets past five draws

Powerball Vs Mega Millions
Powerball is definitely losing because of its higher ticket price. In terms of dollar amounts, PB is clearly smoking Mega Millions, but in terms of number of tickets sold, Mega Millions has the upper hand now, whereas immediately after the cross-selling agreement two years ago up until PB doubled its ticket price, PB sold more tickets than MM given the same jackpot level (even if you go by the cash jackpots).

Powerball Vs Mega Millions
Yes and no. MM has bigger, better jackpots (not anymore) but PB is producing 60, 70 million dollar winners. It's a tie. ;)

World's biggest lottery jackpot won by three tickets
Let the fighting begin. Just heard on the news a MC Donald's worker is claiming she won one of the 3 jackpots, BUT her co-workers are claiming it's a ticket from the pool at work.
