Handling young childrens education after JP win
You mention a couple of things.....traveling or in a protected environment.
If one were to travel, there is homeschooling, be it by the parent or as you mentioned a private teacher. There are requirements/standards set by the state in which you reside.
The other option is the protected environment which may mean private school.
This is one reason why I would want to be anonymous, for the kids sake. I definitely would not want them to know diddly.
My opinion, private parochial sc

Statistically Speaking - QP's and PP's
work time.
later tonight, i will live up to my own integrity test , and show you guys how strength of position works in life by backing up my claims that systems aren't any better than QP's.
i will do, what none of you are obviously willing to do.
(i am referring only to the ones that HAVE posted in this thread, and have REFUSED to)
i will stick my neck out as far as it CAN go, and put up something that will actually cost me.
this is an anonymous board, and yet none of you are ev

Poll: Should we try a little harder to keep the discussions about all things Lottery?
Granted the prayer thread went off on many rabbit trails, but I voted Maybe in this poll.
Mainly I was thinking about Mystical. there's an awful lot of information we could be swapping with each other that doesn't necesarily have to be focused on lottery.
Sadly, 99% of that forum is nothing other than a request for dream numbers and anything other than that gets buried in a few hours, but it still has a lot of potential. It really would be nice to have a sub-vforum Things Mystical or have t

So you won a jackpot! Congrats!
GiveFive,
First, this quote comes to mind:
Success is a relative term.
It brings so many relatives.

How true.
The situation you describe is certainly a sticky wicket. There's been threads here about two series that are shown on TLC, the Learninng Channel, Hoe the Lottery Changed My Life, and the Curse of the Lottery. Most of the programs are follow up interviews with jackpot winners, and large scratcher prize winners.
One lady in St Louis kept saying when you wi

N.J. school board member claims $211.7M Powerball jackpot
I would probably find a cheap apartment somewhere in another part of the state and use that as my Address . I would not want to move and be away from family....and I like my house....I don't want a bigger house and then pay bigger taxes. I guess disconnecting the phone at the house would discourage people from calling, but the mailing and knocking on the door would be bothersome.
As much as I like my job, I would not want the hassle of being bothered or sued....there have been news items of p

Lottery winnings and divorce
I guess if it were me....
I'd have to win first. What are the odds?
Then would I be able to claim anonymously or not?
If I was required to go public....the only people I would trust would be my parents and brother... work out some kind of an arrangement where they would claim, set up an entity that would allow the assets to be shielded and I could share the wealth.
If it were anonymous, I would get the divorce over with, claim with a trust and work out some arrangement to payoff

Virginia man claims $200M Mega Millions lottery jackpot
Original Post by OhioLottery:
If he assembled such a great team, shouldn't he have claimed anonymously?
I was thinking the same thing. Every state has different rules. Some allow anonymous claims, others don't.
And, I don't think I could wait five months to claim, could you guys?
I could and would wait 5 months to claim or as long as possible. There are many business affairs which a major winner must perform before he claims. There are legal matters, accounting matters, personal

Store clerk stole $100,000 in lottery tickets, police say
A Kroger employee was arrested Thursday on charges she stole more than $100,000 in lottery tickets.
Deborah Strong, 52, of Westwood, Ohio, was booked into the Hamilton County jail on a felony theft charge and released, jail officials said.
Strong, who also goes by the name Deborah Ridenour, stole the tickets, and then cashed them, court documents allege. When confronted, she admitted to the crime, police say. She was taken into custody at the Kroger store in Westwood at 2310 Ferguson Rd.
