In terms of cash jackpots, Mega Millions is already there. One more roll, however, and they can probably claim the first half billion dollar jackpot! It would be pretty ironic if MM, which hasn't changed its game since 2005, beats Powerball, which has changed its game TWICE since then, to a half billion dollar jackpot.

I was thinking the same thing. Anytime the jackpots are large(pb or mega millions) it always seems it is won on opposite coasts. I think it is a racket how many winners CA had. Something doesnt smell right

They do that any time the two big games get large jackpots. It's a stripped-down version of the front page that only has the recent winning numbers, no fancy Flash animation, no access to anything else on the site. Supposedly the rationale is that since so many people are checking their numbers, the servers wouldn't be able to handle the traffic if the full site was accessible.

I love these big jackpots like this because it is a great time to catch the hypocrites that claim that they don't play the lottery and that the lottery is a tax on the poor and all the other garbage that comes out of their mouths. If you have a dollar in your pocket and you don't throw it in the ring for a chance to win $300 million, then I have to say you are a pretty stupid individual.

MM minimum jackpot averages about $18 million in sales and PB averages slightly higher. The $200 million MM jackpot had $66 million in sales. Who is going to pay the starting $100 million jackpots when they get hit in back to back drawings or 3 out of 5?

Could be that since MUSL took charge of both games, they are no longer competitors but seeking different markets. If the MM sales increased and sales amounts of PB stayed the same with the higher price and PB eventually have larger jackpots which will attract both markets then it's a win-win situation for MUSL.
