Technically, the SC winner is actually the largest lottery jackpot winner since the previous record-breaking Powerball jackpot was split by 3 winning tickets. This one is the largest single ticket winner. I would take it and actually turn it into true billions as I would focus on investing rather than spending, avoid any vices (playing the lottery and traveling first class would be my only vices), and only investing in business I know the fundamentals of.

October is a record month for lottery jackpots. Countless nights refreshing the forums well past 1 a.m. I typically throw in a few extra dollars for each draw that exceeds $600 million. Typically Powerball rises to historic levels, but in this case both games rose to those levels in the same period. I usually spend $30-$33 a month on lottery. It depends on your state. In Arizona, the lottery agency will not pay out prizes without knowing who, specifically, will be receiving the money, even if it is claimed through a trust. The stated reason for this is that if the beneficiary owes back taxes or child support, it will be deducted from the payout. Since the lottery agency has the name of the actual recipient, that's a public record, which will be released to anyone who asks. There is no anonymity-by-trust in Arizona.

I'D buy here a few farms and land to help the homeless who want to really rebuild their lives get a job working them. Many won't but I believe there are many out there who would work doing anything, if their past (criminal record, using, previous self-employment, no job history, etc.) didn't get in the way.
