Good to know if you win...
Considering the various threads we've had about staying anonymous or not, handling people who approach you if you're a big wineer, just thoight I'd mention this - a real good look at human nature.
In the book Signs, Symbols, and Omens by Raymond Buckland there is a section about travelers symbols and signs used. (Some of this is also known as Hobo maps - hobos would leave maps for other hobos about houses in the vicintiy of hobo camps).
Here's the captions under some of the symbols:

After a big multi-million win how long would you wait to come forward?
I am a person who would freak out that my numbers won. I would HAVE TO KEEP MY MOUTH SHUT REALLY TIGHT.
I have to think VERY VERY CAREFULLY about signing the back of the ticket. It changes that BEARER INSTRUMENT to a REIGSTERED-TO-YOU Instrument, and there goes any hope of anonymity, and any pleas to the state to keep your name out of the paper or the public docuemnts (that could be searched, later on down the road by OTHER PEOPLE) is really just laughed at behind your back.
The first thin

Lottery winner goes from rags to riches to rags
I'm still thinking about the $200,000 and the trip to Vegas.
OK, he wins the Powerball, the OP said his share was $27,000,000. So in that respect at the time the $200,000 loan is chump change. He's going to retire the loan as soon as he gets his lottery check and not keep paying interest.
But as the story goes on he gets sued by the homeowners association for several thousand.
So at first that $200,000 was peanuts but how bad do you think he's like to have that $200,000 now?

Florida Lottery won't pay $500,000 winner, called 'misprint'
Associated Press - May 17, 2007 4:33 PM ET The Florida Lottery is refusing to pay a $$500,000 prize until it can inspect the scratch-off ticket, which officials say appears to be a misprint.
The ticket holder says lottery officials told him the top number was actually a misprinted 13. A lottery spokeswoman says the ticket still needs to be turned over for a full inspection.

N.C. Woman Still Waiting For Lottery Payout
The University Sam's Mart manager told Action 9 that when the clerk swiped the ticket he made the mistake by not hitting no, indicating he wasn't paying the player. But a spokeswoman for the education lottery said their rules require stores like Sam's Mart to pay Hill.
They should have paid $500 in some format, said Pam Walker. If their policy is not to pay all in cash, then they should have asked the player, 'Can you accept a money order or a check?'
Even though in this case it's

Would you travel to an "anonymous" state JUST to buy lottery tickets?
I don't know why, but you just reminded me of this story about a really stupid bank holdup I read about a few years ago. I saved the link because it really belongs in one of those collections like the Darwin awards.
Speaking of remaining anonymous......

At what jackpot amount would you consider "sharing" the wealth?
The debate is not silly at all, since many have had to deal with the reality of the situation in the past, and it's good to guage the results against your personality type to see what might possibly become of you under different circumstances that you may find yourself in, or may exercise to follow.
If the winner is traditionally greedy, selfish, ignorant, stupid, adulterous, murderous or demonstrates addictive or compulsive/impulsive behaviour...Then that winner will aspire and simply

What if?
How would your ISP connect to your computer if they don't know where it is? If you still have dialup you could simply connect through a phone line that the phone company hasn't actually seen for years, but they still know where your end of it is. Even if your bill goes to PO box they know where you live. Of course if you live in a boarding house, or you connect through a neighbor's unsecured wireless gateway you'll be harder to find. If you were going to send threatening emails to the presiden

What is your budget/plan if you win the 340 million?
I'm new and haven't posted a what I'd do list, so I'll play.
First off, I'd have no problem whatsoever saying no. I'd do my best to remain anonymous, but that's just so no one would know how much money I have. I'm single and would hate to wade thru a bunch of guys just looking for a sugar mama. Okay, so with my expensive homes, they might know I'm wealthy, but I'd prefer that people don't know where I got it. Too many people have the idea a lottery win is free money to the winner an

$267 MILLION: Mega Millions lottery jackpot soars
The Mega Millions lottery drawing produced no jackpot winner last night, sending Friday's jackpot to the highest level in a year.
One year ago today, the Mega Millions jackpot of $267 million, which was later re-calculated to $270 million, was won by one Ohio lottery ticket, and was later redeemed by an anonymous winner.
The Mega Millions jackpot has not reached this high since that day.
The multi-state lottery game had a top prize of $216 million up for grabs in last night's drawing, b
