Putting most of jackpot prize in investment?
It would be a personal choice. If you didn't need to test drive it, you could buy it over the net. Once I worked for a loan company (so obviously these buyers weren't millionaires) and it's not uncommon these days for people to buy without seeing the car if they know the dealer is reputable. One client bought a BMW. I don't know if I'd do it however, but it's getting more and more common. I know CA has its own emission controls laws, but I haven't sold cars in over 10 years, so I don't keep

Don't look at your lottery tickets while driving
The article doesn't specify, but I'm assuming this happened in Michigan City, Indiana. Given that, I'm genuinely surprised the offending driver wasn't charged with the attempted murder of a police officer.
I'm not defending the guy, mind you; I believe that if you're driving a car, you should be doing nothing else besides driving your car. Any distraction is dangerous, as illustrated by this incident - they weren't even on the road yet, so a much more serious accident may have been averted. I

The Secret
I wonder if that's an excuse not just an explanation to justify why it doesn't work. Although it certainly makes a lot of sense. Once I developed a relationship with a very kind, gentle spiritual teacher (long story) I contacted for healing. I had read an article in a newspaper about a serious accident he had and how he refused to have surgery or take medication, and he healed himself with prayer. I sought him out and eventually was able to talk to him and we spoke for about an hour on the

N.J. native wins $38M Calif. Lottery jackpot
Great Story!!
I agree with you, Miss NYC, but sometimes I wonder what I would do if I won that kind of money. I am looking for their ages. They could be only 55. Many retirement communities here accept people over 50. They won so much money that knowing their Golden Years are protected must be a very good feeling. They can always take half of the money every year and invest it as Mr. Salek indicated he would. Just the first payment will change their lives dramatically.

Newspaper analyzes Fla. Lottery education funding
I suspect this crappy article was just given a thousand times the audience it had published in a small town paper.
From my point of view Florida made a mistake using the lottery revenue for education replacement funding instead of improving education with collage scholarships like Georgia did.
There is no question gambling pulls money out of the local economy. Five dollars spent on gambling is five dollars not spent on fast food and suger snacks.
On the other hand, if you win a j

incredible story
This is not a lottery subject, so I won't elaborate too much. However, to answer you, Pac, DD is correct. This is something I copied from an Audubon Society page.
As long ago as the 1880s birds have been dying in collisions with tall, lit structures. Currently there are more than 75,000 radio, TV, microwave and cell phone towers in the U.S., with more going up every day to serve the explosion in cell phone use. (By the way, this article is several years old.)
Another quote: In an ef

incredible story
Hello again. Always nice to meet new people.
Here is the link (with the English Translation) I sent to Todd. Hope it is okay to post. Just want to write this comment, because the odds of a man and his best childhood friend winning on the same day are rare enough, but it does happen when people have things in common. But now you are saying one of these guys also found a winning ticket 6 months later? I'm not saying it isn't true, but it definitely sounds (as your title says) to be in

Newspaper analyzes Fla. Lottery education funding
I (as usual) agree with Todd.
The author assumedly posseses some measure of college-level eduaction, but does not show evidence of critical thinking skills. Heck - some of the numbers quoted don't even add up.
The article is full of unproven canards... and if you don't like the way the lottery performs, analyze lottery performance in a responsible way. I always cringe when critics fault the lottery for how dollars are distributed when the lottery has no say in how that is done.
In CA

Mega Millions lottery winner won't change lifestyle
But that still leaves her with $923,950
I agree that a drastic lifestyle isn't possible, but if someone gave me $923,950 (after taxes) it would be a major lifestyle change for me. I guess people on this board have a different attitude about the meaning of lifestyle, which I'm not knocking, but disagree with to a certain extent. Of course one can't go out and purchase a large home and fancy cars, go on lots of cruises, and still have money left over, but just putting it in CDs would yield

Men threaten discrimination suit against N.M. Lottery
I know both Ken and Jack. Both great guys, but with a tendency to push back on any attempts to raise the performance bar.
Both (but especially Jack) have significant levels of windshield time in working their routes, which include large geographical areas with low population and retailer density. The article doesn't say how many sales employees were cut - just that the Lottery cut 11 positions.
162 retailers is a lot - I don't know a single sales rep in any of the Western US states tha
