Please Reveal Cash Value Formula for Illinois' "Lotto" Game
Illinois Lottery FAQ: Can I Receive My Prize As A One-Time Cash Payment? It depends. For Mega Millions, Powerball, and Lotto, winners have 60 days, beginning with the day after the drawing to decide between a one-time lump sum, or a 30-year annuity. The one-time cash option amount is based in part on current U.S. Treasury bond prices. The websites for Mega Millions and Powerball contain the estimated, lump-sum cash value for their respective jackpots. Those who make a claim 60

Mega Millions slowing down?
I hear ya Lej..... That increase in odds and price cured me of purchasing any tickets until the advertised annuity is at around $200M or higher..... Spend my $$ on local lotteries instead.

Speculation begins about NJ winner of Mega Millions lottery
if you don't claim in a certain amount of time, like 90 or 160 days, I forget, 'they' choose the 30 installment plan for you. The IRS gives 60 days to make the decision, but the clock only starts when you claim the prize. IIRC it goes back to the switch from annuities as the only choice to the option to chose between the annuity or the lump sum, and is based on the doctrine of constructive receipt or economic benefit. Just because somebody promises/owes you money doesn't mean that you'll ge

Minnesota family wins first Lotto America jackpot worth $22.8 million
You are missing the fact that they chose a $13.5 million CASH PAYOUT. The $22 million was an annuity. The taxes were based on the cash amount, not the $22 million.

One lottery ticket from New Hampshire wins $559.7 million Powerball jackpot
So it's off a few million. Who cares when it's that high. Even the starting jackpot is way more than I need. As far as the jackpot and cash option...it's been explained ad nauseum. The cash option is the REAL jackpot. But if a winner decides they want an annuity, they can choose to collect over 30 years. Steal what is left over? There IS no left over. There are even a few scratchoff tickets that offer an annuity, or a cash option. LOL.

Which game will reach the billion-dollar jackpot?
Depending on what state you live in because of state taxes are different. I live in WV and if my math is close to being right just for the heck of it i tried to figure out what it would take for me to walk away after taxes with a billion dollars. the annuity would have to be almost 3 billion dollars and i would have to be the only person to hit the JP. Just thought i would post this since i am having a bit of insomnia tonight
