'Lucky guy' sells ticket that wins half of $42 mllion Lotto jackpot
KY Floyd, as long as there is a video of whoever sells the ticket, I suppose it wouldn't matter if a bonus was paid, but it might open up a big can of worms, IMHO. Anyway, it has no effect on me, so I don't care. I think it would be wonderful if store owner decided to share his good fortune should he receive a bonus from the lottery.
Regarding the time or date a ticket is sold, I agree that this information should not be revealed, but the place of purchase is always listed immediately. Whe

AMAZING: Minnesota man wins back-to-back lottery jackpots
The MegaMoney here is 5 numbers. First 4 numbers from 1 to 44 and the MegaBall 1 to 22
Odds are 1:2,986,522 according to the FL web site
Last week there was a news article announcing a woman won it a second time (not in a row, but still, twice with those odds!!) She won $2M on Jan 30 and split a jackpot (winning $320K) in 1998. Maybe I'm playing the wrong game!
But I really think, in most cases, it's just being at the right place at the right time. (they were quick picks)

Protect Your System
Most lottery systems are nothing more than analyzing a data file and summarizing the results in different ways. Can such things as adding a columns of numbers and dividing their amounts to get the averages or medians be copyrighted?
Predicting combinations of numbers has usually been picking numbers randomly to form combinations that have never come up or equal to some popular sums or using some wheel designs that are already in a public forum somewhere.
You might be able to copyright

Lottery players learn tough lessons
I don't know, Justxploring...the article does mention that his ticket didn't get entered as it was during the time the offices were moving from Albany to Schenectady:
In court documents, Ramesar said he had called the Lottery office in June and had been told he should soon receive confirmation that his application had been processed. The delay, it appeared, was caused in part because the Lottery's headquarters were being moved from Albany to Schenectady.
If you were a lottery commissi

$55 million Mega Millions lottery jackpot claimed by immigrant couple
starchild_45...thanks for your response. While the article states that the winners got a check that day, I do not think the amount was determined by what the State of Washington collected for that jackpot.
For that particular jackpot run Washington collected $2,453,434. The amount set aside for the MM jackpot is 31.8% or $780,192 for this run, far below the $1.59 million the winners got that day.
I found it interesting that the winners got a check equal to the first years annuity paymen

Revealed: How to Win
Good article but I am sure they misrepresented the views of the scholars. No one trained in math or stats would say the odds were reduced drastically given the method used. the only way the odds can be reduced drastically is toplay large numbers of different combinations. they did not. They played a small number of sets of numbers but played them consistently and religiously.
As much as some of them would deny it they operated more like a religious person praying year in year out for some

A news story I saw on google if so this guy is off to a bad start and will likely end up like Jack Whittaker regretting his lottery win instead of laying low and enjoying the money.

Quick Pick
Every time I read a thread about QPs I remember the press release in FL when I man won a big jackpot. He said something like I've been playing the same numbers for 15 years. I had a couple of extra dollars in my pocket, so I decided to buy 2 quick picks. He won with the QP. This isn't the first time I've read such an article. As I've written in the past, I believe every large jackpot in Florida has been won with a quick pick for quite a long time and most of the MegaMoney and Fantasy5 wins
