If a sibling of yours won a lottery jackpot, how much would you expect to be given?
I have an idea. Why not just be anonymous by winning the lottery in a state where you can remain anonymous? Set up a will so that when you die, whatever amount of money you want to send out can be given to whomever. After you die, it won't matter how greedy family members or relatives will be, because you will already be dead and they can't argue with how much money you should give them after you die.

$196M Ohio lottery winner trying to claim anonymously?
All winners should be allowed to remain anonymous. It is totally ridiculous that some lotteries require winners to go public. There should be a law allowing winners to remain anonymous. Many who do go public, regret it later. It is time for state governments to legislate for anonymity.

Man dons disguise to claim lottery jackpot
I find it totally ludicrous that the NY lottery dose not allow winners to remain anonymous. State lotteries in Australia allow winners to remain anonymous, it is very unusual for Australian winners to go public.

List of States Which Allow Anonymous Winners
That is actually not correct. They have had anonymous winners before. Years ago (early 90's) a family set up a trust to claim the ticket. They had so many people in the picture you couldn't tell who the hell won. You could also set up a corporation as a trustee as well. It's far better than Oregon. As with any state if you really want to be anonymous you had better get an attorney before you claim the prize.

List of States Which Allow Anonymous Winners
Arizona - No (website FAQ) Q:If I win the jackpot, do I have the option of remaining anonymous?A:No. The Arizona Lottery is required to release, upon request, the winner s name, city of residence, game, and amount won. A press release will be sent out to the media when a winner has collected the prize. However, Arizona Lottery jackpot winners are given the option of participating in or declining a press conference and/or publicity. We believe a press conference enhances the winning experience

Re: Powerball & Mega Millions
Press releases, for one. I know some states say that the back of the ticket, which must be signed to collect a jackpot, is an agreement to a press release, but what if a person from a state that lets you remain anonymous wins in a state that doesn't. So, the non-anonymous state releases the story to the newspapers in that state - the papaers on the person's home state pick up the story on a wire service- but, according to the rules of the home state, they wanted to remain anonymous. Now

Protection after a huge jackpot lottery win
About being an anonymous winner. I am almost certain that California allows winners to be anonymous. Do most other states not allow this?

POLL: Ever wonder why you play?
I selected other, because I am mostly concerned about the financial security that I would have if I was anonymous if I was in a state where I could be anonymous. If possible, I would definitely form a trust to anonymously claim the prize, because I have been taken advantage of by a couple relatives in the past. Think about it. If you work a regular office job, and people borrow $100 from you and NEVER pay you back, then those same people are just going to ask for MORE money with NO inte
