Jamaica making new efforts to curb lottery scams
Jamaican officials said Thursday that they are hopeful new legislation will finally result in a stream of convictions and lengthy sentences for fraudsters behind a multimillion-dollar lottery scam that has swindled mostly elderly Americans out of their retirement savings for years.
National Security Minister Peter Bunting told reporters that the law reform act will result in a vastly accelerated number of successful prosecutions of swindlers who have made the island a center for cross-border

The Future of Online Lottery Sales?
You probably spoke with the wrong person because all the state lottery officials discussed the potential of online ticket sales. To my knowledge Wisconsin has no laws prohibiting Internet gambling although in their codes, they do site Federal law. There are states with laws (KY is one) that prohibits online gambling but it could be easily repealed if they or any other state with such a law decides to sell lottery tickets online.
In March, the Illinois legislation created and passed a law all

Could We Use Another Big Game Lottery??
Neither PB or MM are National lottery games because all winning tickets must be cashed in the state where they were bought. There are other smaller jackpot games like Decades of Dollars that is played in more than one state and PB has a couple of multi-state games too. All of those games are pooling the jackpots and the jackpot winnings come from those pools, but the secondary prizes are paid by the state where the ticket was sold.
At least two state lotteries are now offering online play and

Iowa Lottery security chief bent on determining identity of jackpot winner
The annuity value is what the cash value will buy at the time of the drawing. While the cash value was sitting in the bank waiting for the winner, the annuity value dropped by $2.2 million. The cash value remains the same with the state keeping whatever interest was made. The winner still can decide either option but won't get the same annuity offered two weeks after the drawing.
All states have decided their security measures through legislation before paying off any jackpot winner, but the

Why dont they sell Lottery tickets or horse racing tickets in every bar in the USA
I thought online gambling was legal in almost every country but the USA. If and when Congress decides to pass reasonable onling gaming regulations, it may be possible to purchase lottery tickets online. State legislation allows players to now wager on horse races online even though there is a Federal ban on internet casinos and poker sites.
i am not talking about the USA only...
Before asking what you don't think is being done, had you done some research, you'd find buying lottery ticket

$2M Michigan lottery winner defends use of food stamps
I have been in contact, with several people today, one a state rep, not all forms of the bridge card are the same, not every one qualifies for the same thing, there are thousands of college kids still getting food assistance, the Rep in this very article is working on legislation to stop it.
I myself worked my way through college and I know how tough it is, Good luck to your son and I'll keep you posted, what I have learned in the course of 2 days of talking to people, it much worse than some

Approval for online poker in D.C. seen as long shot
Rep. Jason Chaffetz of Utah, ranking Republican on the House subcommittee that oversees the District, said he is absolutely, totally opposed to the idea
Mr. Chaffetz compared the likely resistance to that facing federal legislation being promoted by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Nevada Democrat, who is seeking to allow Internet poker games at casinos and racetracks.
Utah doesn't even have a state lottery or a race track and their Representative is absolutely, totally opposed .

Harry Reid pushing to legalize online poker for American casinos, horse tracks
Everyone has a right to their own opinion, but you seem to be throwing out a bunch of statements without a single piece of evidence to back it up. Care to name a single Republican who has been mean-spirited? What exactly was their mean-spirited act? I don't deny it's not possible that a mean-spirited act has been committed by a Republican, but I am curious to understand exactly what you consider to be a mean-spirited act.
The president was caving to the demands of the American people, who ove
