I agree about Microsoft essentials...it will even catch the viruses that redirect your browser. I also have malwarebytes antimalware and they both seem to do the trick. I do a lot of research online and have a lot of constant hits from spammers to my art and book websites (Russian fed, etc) so these have served me well. And yes, you have to download it.

Yes many codes are for free. Some are not. Since I'm looking to be a programmer for career purposes I don't want ALL my code to be for free. Did microsoft get so big by giving their code away for free? Some code is open source, some is free, some is not. Be that as it may, I'm willing to share some of my work but not all of it. If that doesn't appeal to you, then my apologies. Find free code online and use that. :)

It will save you a lot of trial-and-error later. It's free and the best solution -- can't beat that combination. Even Mac users need to think about virus protection these days. Hopefully Microsoft will come out with a version of Security Essentials for the Mac.

i ran spybot last night because my cursor was acting quirky and it found a few normal stuff but 2 trojans that it couldn't erase because of files associated with them ( whatever that means), so i i'm running microsoft essentials full scan now and hope it will pick it up, but if not, i will have to rerun spybot again and hope it will get rid of it this time around. if not, then i will have to do what i did in the past by going online and entering the name of the trojans and figure a way to delete

There is no notepad here on this forum but you can open up Microsoft Word (if you have that) or any word processor. copy and paste the number there, then transfer them to the inspector. Or you can get a pen and paper and write the numbers down on paper. Then just write the numbers from the paper to the inspector. ^___^

Just Basic is a short version of Liberty Basic produced by the same company that sells Liberty Basic. They claim any program written using it will run in Liberty Basic and all the routines you learn using it can be used with Liberty Basic. Since it was free and included a tutorial I thought I would try learning it before ordering a copy of Liberty Basic. I've look at several Basic languages and other high level languages and while I understand their commands, I can't program using them. Microsof

I contacted Ldir tech support. They said Microsoft offers 2 free downloads. Virtual PC and Virtual XP. Go to the MS site in search enter Virtual XP Mode and follow the instructions. Install PC first then XP. After they are installed you will see a selection for XP on the starting menu. Click on it and you can install the Ldir and simillar programs. It only works for windows professional and higher. I will try it later, wish me luck! Thanks guys.
