I would be surprised if anyone ever came up with a system that would consistently pay even near 50% since lotteries payouts amount are such that all prizes including the jackpots can be paid with 50% of sales.

That's a very good point Ridge and you may be on to something, but how do you explain Austria's law that a jackpot cannot exceed 2 million euros? Wouldn't that be a malfunction in favor of the casinos then, since it's a crime to advertise/award jackpots that exceed the legal amount?

I normally spend $5 per draw on MM PB. When PB goes to the new matrix I'll spend $5 on MM and $2 on PB per draw. I'll take the extra $3 per draw (or $6/per week) and save it for the larger jackpots to buy more tickets. Or I may just put that extra $3 on Hot Lotto if the jackpot is unusually high. I don't bother with scratchers or pick 3/4, the payouts just don't motivate me.

Their is always another jackpot to win so if 3 asset managers want to split a ticket and win more power to them. I do not care if they won. Once I check my tickets and see that I have not won. This is a big win for uconn if no one goes on to claim the jackpot. I would like to see the jackpots also go back to the players the whole jackpot in some form of prizes or adding it to the jackpot run after the ticket expires not give that much money to politicians in uconn to do whatever they want in the general fund of the state.-weshar75

I think with Powerball increasing to $2 starting in 2012, I think Powerball will hit a United States jackpot record sometime next year. In the meantime, both Mega Millions and Powerball won consecutive jackpots in the last draw.

With Powerball changing to $2 and the jackpots going up I think we will see a $500 million jackpot in 2012. I would think I would obvious that it will happen with the price increase.
