In Need of Some Math Help Calculating Number CombinationsReply
After hours of getting nowhere trying to find a mathematical solution I re-wrote the application to take advantage of distributed computing power. Now I have 3 computers each running 5 instances of the application processing about 1000 records every 46 seconds. One instance of the application evaluates the drawing and extracts the 4-8 thousand record that match the trends I am interested in from data points that are quick to validate. Are you implying that was the last jackpot out there to be accounted for, thus resulting in them adding it to the ending games list (according to what that one rep said) or that they suck at record keeping? Or, both?

On the way to the record just over a year ago it went from 356 to 528, with reported sales of $352 million. This time around it's 361 to 416 on sales of $111 million. I'm sure they expect the 475 to be conservative, but it will be interesting to see if that finally gets to the new point at which sales really start to grow. On the upside, the smaller sales mean there's still better than an 80% chance it will roll again.

That billion dollar jackpot was a freak accident basically. I don't doubt it'll get there again, but for this jackpot there have already been 17 roll overs, so it would have to jump 1,2 billion dollars in 3 draws to reach the all-time record. Maybe it could get to 700 million if interest spiked, but that would already have to be insane interest. Although MM is very low right now, so it's possible PB could sway people.

I'm done with chasing and stat keeping also. I might try to find a 1 and done $500, but based on all the evidence, until there is better record keeping, what's the point. Adam and Dracos, another idea I might have had is what does it take to become a FL Lottery retailer. Maybe you guys could qualify and start outselling the big locations. Then we could figure out the entire process when they come in to try to pick tickets up.
