$348 MILLION: April misses bring May riches
It would make more sense to focus on cash values, I think only one MM/PB jackpot winner in the last 3 or 4 years took the annuity. But until we can get a consensus to go along, we may as all go along with the common phrasing, so we're all talking the same language.

Lottery winner wins again with $1M scratch ticket at lottery headquarters
now i see why residents bad mouth the tennessee lottery. why would an older player buy scratch tickets and end up being stuck with a 20 year annuity payout. not that it would be the end of the world if it happened but older players are willing to suck up the loss and take the lump sum in most cases. not in tn though. eeks.

$348 MILLION: April misses bring May riches
thars been many countless and pointless debates about lump sum vs taking the given annuity
its also been disgused to virtual death, one could always buy a better annuity then the ones currently offered
of all the stories of failure we've seen not to mention the albeit rare story of those that took thar winning and proven themselves to be that much better at handling thar money
few have taken the lessons taught to heart
and with the comming presidential election comming up in a b

Parking garage attendant wins lottery, immediately quits job
Winner can opt for lump sum payout as opposed to $1,000/day (paid in quarterly installments). If chose the lump sum, they base it on a twenty year term of payments. Present day annuity of $1,000/day for 20 years less taxes equals his payout.

How soon till the next $ Billion $ Jackpot?
Whith the annuity value at 292 mill after saturdays rollover it still is not listed in the top 25 JP in history but the cash value of 191.9 mill is now up to #21 on the cash value list. If there are no winners in tonights drawing then i look for it to really start growing at a fast pace. When the record was set in Jan it was sitting at 302 mill and it only took 4 rollovers at that point to set the all time record.

Mass Megabucks Doubler
Find it to be quite surprising that the annuity value of this jackpot would drop $20,000 between the last two recent drawings. Currently it's the sixth biggest jackpot for draw games in the US at $9.9 million, you would think it would generate a lot more interest than it has been.

How soon till the next $ Billion $ Jackpot?
Just an FYI: Assuming the cash ratio stays the same, if this run makes it to an advertised annuity jackpot of $1.510 billion it would have a cash value of just over $1 billion. For those of you with really ambitious fantasies it would have to reach $2.5 billion for somebody in a state with no income tax to net $1 billion after taxes.

How soon till the next $ Billion $ Jackpot?
I would have to agree with you it might take an extra draw to hit that billion mark, because this runs annuity to cash ratio (over 66%) is similar to last year's big pot. And it seems that these jackpots don't really start to take off until they cross that 300M mark.

How soon till the next $ Billion $ Jackpot?
The current run is still well ahead of last month's record run. The next drawing will be the 12th of the current run, and the advertised jackpot of $236 million is based on a cash value of $156.3 million. That's not quite $2 million less than the $158 million cash value of the last run's 15th drawing, which was advertised as a $255 million annuity value. If this run had grown at the same pace as the last one we wouldn't be seeing that $156.3 million cash jackpot until the drawing on 3/5.
