N.J. lottery winners would get one year of anonymity under bill sent to governor
I got a phone call one day from a man with an Indian accent stating he worked for the lottery claims department.
I suppose he wanted to verify/obtain a few things.
First tip off was the accent.
Next was the pressure to make sure he was speaking to the person he called for...me. (at times even cutting me off mid-sentence)
Next was the name: Bobby Benjamin. huh?
He had the correct area code for Headquarters..turns out the number didn't work to call back though.
I had the number f

Delaware couple anonymously claims $50M Powerball jackpot
A husband and wife from Wilmington came forward Oct. 5 to claim their $50 million Powerball jackpot from the Wednesday, Oct. 3 drawing, according to Delaware Lottery officials.
The couple opted to remain anonymous and selected the cash, single-payment value for the jackpot, which totaled $33.05 million before federal withholding taxes. Delaware Lottery officials validated the winning ticket Friday.
I checked my numbers in the newspaper during a break at work, and when I realized I had won

How to play Ghana 5/90 Lottery...
Could someone please explain the Ghana Lottery to me?
I know it is a pick 5/90 game.
I know that there is a 5/90 game for Monday thru Saturday.
How is this game played?
Is the Ghana 5/90 Lottery played like the pick 5 lotteries in the U.S.?
I know there are winning numbers and machine numbers.
What does the machine numbers mean?
Does the jackpot roll over?
If so is all the money paid upfront?
Can the winner anonymous?
I know the winning ticket(s) must be cashed

Claiming Anonymously and keeping your winnings! (a paranoid approach)
Hi All,
Thanks for the warm welcome! And I apologize for the length. But as a longtime lurker this has been a really great community and I really appreciate the welcome from everyone. Yes it is a bit long, I think I might have had a bit too much KY Bourbon, Ridge...ha! And I don't blame you, if I were you I might have had to crack open some Beam before rolling over that post.
Artist77 brings up a good point so I thought I'd go ahead and add this here. I'm not a lawyer and, unfortunately (n

anonymous vs. public disclosure
My state of South Carolina allows you to remain anonymous BUT if some news reporter or a very nosey person wants to know who actually won a lottery prize then they can request it because:
The South Carolina Freedom of Information Act provided under Chapter 4, Title 30, of the Code of Laws of South Carolina is a series of laws designed to guarantee that the public has access to public records of governmental bodies inSouth Carolina.
Which includes the S.C. Lottery Commission and below is

$500 MILLION: Mega Millions sets all-time lottery jackpot record
All this talk about anonymity makes me upset that more states don't offer the option to remain anonymous; especially with a jackpot of this magnitude. If one person were to win this, their life would be turned upside down because their name and face will be plastered everywhere for the whole world to see. BUT after some critical thinking here's what I'd do to protect my identity and make life a little easier:
1. Delete/deactivate social networking accounts if you have any.
2. Change phone

Online Illinois lottery tickets net $15K first day
I'm from IL. Since this is only open to IL residents, I figured I'd explain how the online tickets work.
There have been yearly subscriptions sold online for some time now. I got one of those in January so I already had an account on their site with all my info entered. I also had $2 won from the subscription sitting in my account balance, and I just used that to purchase 2 plays of Mega Millions.
The process worked similarly to setting up the subscription and it was really easy. You can m

Paranoid...or Prepared?
Hi Lucy, liked your post and here are my answers to your questions.
1) I would certainly tell my family and would want to make sure my daughter was set for life, parents were taken care of and also would want to give some money to my younger brother. Both of my siblings have done well with their careers (unlike myself the black sheep of the family, lol). Now this applies only if I win millions.
2) I'm a very very shy person so really would dread people knowing I won other than family and f

$250 MILLION: Powerball lottery jackpot ramps up
If there is a $1,000,000. door prize, I am so going to be there, lol.
I never understood people that are so paranoid about their identity being revealed if they win the lottery. If you are that paranoid, don't play, problem solved.
There are thousands of people worth hundreds of millions and even billions of dollars all over this country and all over the world and they exist just fine. Most of them live in regular homes with no gates, no guards and drive regular cars and go regula

Ct. Powerball lottery winners signed affidavit swearing they are only members of trust
The trust fund established by three Greenwich men who claimed the $254 million Powerball prize last month will expire in one year and the money will then go into a second trust, according to a copy of the trust agreement obtained by local media.
The three men signed an affidavit the day after a press conference announcing the Putnam Avenue Family Trust as the winner, swearing that the second trust named the West Putnam Avenue Trust has no silent partners and that no person ineligible to win t
