Calif. man claims $134M Mega Millions lottery jackpot
A couple of observations: A quick pick It appears that they interviewed his bank.....which would make me very nervous if I were doing any banking business. It said he lives a few blocks from the Donut shop where the winning ticket was purchased, it is possible that he walks there...I would worry about being mugged. One could do a quick online telephone directory search, look up his name, number and address and bug the%^% ^^ out of him. AS said before, he didn't lay low until after the

How would you claim?
It depends on which state: (where I live, no anonymity when claiming, where I have played you can claim anonymous). Don't say a word to anyone and remain calm, giddiness would probably make bad things happen. This is the first rule.....the rest is a Rough Draft 1.) Make copies of the ticket. Put original unsigned ticket in a fire proof safe. 2.) Rent a cheap apt/efficiency and change my legal address to the apt/efficiency. Disconnect my landline in my home. Put a for sale sign up in fro

Predictions for LP for 2010 - NOT number predictions, things you see coming.
Bump.... Not exactly difficult, is it? From the OP, Numerous inevitable threads about; QP or my numbers? Cash or annuity? Anonymous or not? How come people in _ _ _ _ _ always win the jackpots? I think the lotteris are rigged. In Mystical any attempt at keeping a discussion going will be buried by requests for dream numbers. The Mathematics Forum will have 1/10 the posts of Mystical, but if the dream requests were stripped out they would be close. The bigest winner just mi

Store manager charged after winning lottery
Indiana woman pleads guilty to buying ticket from own store An Indiana woman who won $1 million on a scratch-off lottery game will be serving probation instead of spending her winnings. Betty Jacobi, 54, who managed the Cowboy's Gas and Convenience store in New Salisbury, bought the $20 ticket in June from her own store, a violation of lottery policy, 6News' Derrik Thomas reported. Because Jacobi couldn't legally claim the money, prosecutors said she gave the ticket to her daughter, Jon

why you haven't won the lottery
You haven't won yet because you don't deserve it. And what gives you the right to decide who deserves to win? Talking about trusts and investments and making your money work for you, it just means that you'd loaf around and live in idleness and degeneracy and wanton luxury. I don't know about others, but after having been in the work force for over 40 years, the thought of winning and living off the $$ that is made from the investments that I would make, sure outweighs the 8-

Why you should try to remain anonymous if you ever win a jackpot!
I'm lucky enough to live in an area (border between two states) where neither photo shoots nor press conferences are required. However, I'm certain that both Oregon/Washington lottery commissions would not volunteer that information ... and in fact would try to capitalize on winner euphoria and steer me toward making a public spectacle of myself. I suspect the first thing I'd do is call up my local bar association referral service and ask to be referred to an attorney who knows lottery law. F

Why you should try to remain anonymous if you ever win a jackpot!
DC81, You raise a VERY good point. Michigan does allow winners of $10K or more to remain anonymous if they win an in-state game. Michigan rules for MegaMillions differ, however. But if you win a MegaMillions jackpot (grin), this is one of those situations where you could do a legal name change BEFORE redeeming your ticket ... then change your name back afterward. It's sad - but I've heard horror stories about winners who had to change their names after winning to escape salespersons, chari
