state taxes on winnings Q
KYFloyd In some states (those that don't allow one to remain anonymous) the back of the ticket contains a consent to a press release. This consent is made when the person purchases the ticket. They have to sign it to collect a winner, but the purchase date on front of the ticket is the date the pres release was agreed . Look at the back of one of your tickets and see if there's anywhere to write the date along with your signature. There's no date on the signature block, it's on the f

Winning lottery ticket saved from shredder
An Australia man who unknowingly kept a winning lottery ticket worth $100,000 in a drawer for five years said he was close to putting it through the shredder. The anonymous winner got the shock of his life when he was told the old ticket had netted him first prize in a $2 million jackpot lottery draw, back in March 2001. The man said he had been planning to get rid of the unchecked tickets he had amassed during his 30 year lottery hobby. I've had a drawer full of unregistered lottery t

Lottery winner surprised ticket worth $250,000
Donald Ertman got a little agitated when he found out he'd have to make the 150-mile trip to Lansing to collect his lottery winnings. All that for $150, he complained. Then the owner of the store that sold Ertman the $1 Mega Millions ticket set him straight: It was worth not $150, but a cool quarter of a million. I didn't believe him not at first, Ertman told The Bay City Times. The 71-year-old laid-off factory worker bought the ticket in late December at the Bad Axe Party Store B

Study ranks Missouri lottery as ninth best in U.S.
Looking at the point assignments, I can only see 2 or 3 categories where fairness is involved and that's if you include bilingual. The study was made in Texas that does have a large Spanish speaking population but I don't see why it's unfair if any US state lottery printed tickets, ads, website, or billboards only in English when the US Constitution was written in English. To be totally fair, this study is suggesting that all lottery ticket sold should be printed in every language spoken or read

RedToad Predictions
This is pretty funny. Just for s**ts and giggles I checked out RedToad's forum post at godlike-something-or-other .com and halfway down the page he reaches exactly the same conclusion as he did here: Anonymous Coward User ID: 315116 10/20/2007 7:40 PMRe: RedToad Predictions I WILL NO LONGER REPLY TO ARSINE COMMENTS ON THIS THREAD. Record powerball lottery winner reflects on sad life
Why on earth would you feel sorry for jack whittaker? because he has ( or had ) 314 million dollars? Feel sorry for me because I do NOT have 314 million dollars. Yet. You reap what you sow. Should you feel bad that he got robbed a few times? Maybe, until you find out he was robbed at strip clubs. Not the kind of place where good people hang out. The thing you need to realize is you CANNOT change your morals just because you win the lottery. He may or may not have been a moral person

Maryland Mega winner believes in magic
Jim, Let me be clear. I am thrilled to death to see people win the lottery. I love it! But when I see people like Bunky acting like an idiot...BEFORE...he's validated his ticket let alone claimed his prize I tend to believe he's already going down the wrong road and...THAT...I hate to see. You say there's no evidence that he won't invest his money wisely. Good grief Jim he's buying cars, holding court and talking about investing in a reiki healing center/tea shop/wiccan learning cente

What would you do if you had the winning lottery ticket BUT.
Thanks for all your posts,so far folks. I have been getting a lot of input Where exactly on this forum should I go and have a look at to research my main topic of Proxy Representation/ Claiming Anonymously in NON-Anonymous state? As I may have intimated before, I am a paranoid chaser of lottery fortune. I want to be able to have all my ducks in a row. I have a very nasty affliction called being a doormat and as time goes on it seems all I seem to look forward to is how to be a better

Setting a trust for anonymity: how does it work?
In what research I have done, the best vehicle seems to be a personal property trust . If you feel the need to be prepared, you need the document and to have it notarized. Books on the subject might be helpful at this stage, just to know what you are looking at, you don't need a winning ticket to form a trust... What I have seen done in the past... trust formed to claim the ticket, an attorney is hired to cash it in... named in the trust as a Trustee . The lawyer will provide the lotte

im in TROUBLE
Dawn, I invite you to consider the following: a) Find a certified addictions counselor on your insurance plan (call the 800# on your card); if you do not have insurance like 46 million Americans in this country, locate and call the local community mental health center in your area-- most work on a sliding fee scale or see people for no cost if they are subsidized by grants b) Identify your triggers c) Attend several meetings of Gamblers Anonymous [GA], learn about those wonderful 12
