Massachusetts man sues 2 women, claiming they cheated him out of $4 million lottery prize
Luis should have contacted Clarance Jones, from Massachusetts- you know the 80 year old who pleaded guilty to conspiring to commit tax fraud and filing false tax returns in connection with a scheme in which he bought winning Lottery tickets at a discount in order to help the real winners avoid paying taxes on the prizes. Clarance had a track record. l guess Luis was looking in the wrong place, after all finding an honest crook is never too far. This could have been Jones's Last Crusade.

Massachusetts man pleads guilty in lottery tax fraud scheme
A Massachusetts man pleaded guilty Tuesday in U.S. District Court in a scheme to buy millions of dollars' worth of winning Massachusetts State Lottery tickets at a discount to help the ticket holders avoid taxes, according to the U.S. attorney's office.
Clarance Jones, 80, of Lynn, Massachusetts, was arrested last fall and charged with tax fraud and filing false tax returns. Law enforcement authorities alleged he used a 10-percenting ploy to become the nation's top lottery winner.

Massachusetts husband, wife are both $1 million lottery winners
Yes, what a coincidence they are from MA, a state with an odds-defying number of repeat scratch off winners. So many repeat winners, in fact, that the state enacted a policy to start investigating repeat winners to root out fraud. Nothing fishy here at all, I'm sure.

Audit of California Lottery finds over $305,000 in improper or dubious spending
Early my foot. The report that started this was sent by an anonymous employee for two consecutive years.
The first time nothing was done.
How much of this fraud was done between the time the first letter was sent and the second letter.
How much fraud could have been prevented.
What a surprise that there is nothing about repaying any money.

Colorado man who unwittingly split a $4.8M jackpot with scammer is fighting the Colorado Lottery
You are both wrong. Tipton's scheme allowed him to know what possible group of numbers would come and a possible time frame. It did not make the computers generate the numbers themselves so the quick pick was a legitimate win and Amir was not a beneficiary of Tipton's fraud.

Colorado man who unwittingly split a $4.8M jackpot with scammer is fighting the Colorado Lottery
After reading this article, I'm not taking sides. The state has an interesting position in saying that Amir would not have won with his quick pick had Tipton not forced those numbers to come up, and essentially be grateful he got what he did from Tipton's fraud.

Florida's biggest Powerball winner sues her own son after winnings squandered
A judge will not substitute his/ her decision on whether the money should have been invested more or less aggressively. If the investment is deemed reasonable (even if it is very conservative) and lacking fraud or negligence, Gloria loses.

Florida's biggest Powerball winner sues her own son after winnings squandered
Good point. Very easy to tear up a poa if she made it revocable. If the financial expert lost the money, she may be out of luck unless she can shoe negligence or fraud. It is never too late to try to right a wrong.

California Lottery official dismissed amid investigations
Great news and the outcome predicted by most lp members, and not counting the 1 or 2 members who placed the blame on the woman. It is funny how so many state lotteries are supposedly trying to prevent fraud by pushing 100% non anonymity but their own officials engage in public unprofessional behavior. They need to clean their own house!

Undercover Kentucky Lottery investigation snares three store employees trying to steal prizes
Arizona lottery terminals used to play a jingle We're in the money when clerks scanned a winning ticket for you. This prevented the type of fraud that occurred in Kentucky. Sadly, the terminals were reprogrammed and no longer play the jingle, thus enabling thievery by dishonest clerks.
