Can't Feed the Pig when Uncle Sam & The Lottery Steals all the Food
I would like to think that most people go into politics for the right reasons. But it is like drug enforcement. The financial temptation is always huge. The lure of the media, pictures in the paper, invites to parties, golf trips around the world, idolizing by local merchants. It is hard to remain humble when every one around you is praising your greatness, and naming bridges and streets after you. Sleeping on a paid for yacht only makes you want to live on one all the time.
It is like the lo

I hope it (Powerball) rolls again
It looks as if some members here want to privatize the lottery.
New Rule: You can't play if you earn a good income and you own a nice home.
or at Lottery Headquarters... Well, Sir. We just ran your social security number and it appears you have too much money in the bank, so we can't pay you the prize you won Sat. Along with what car you'd buy...
Good ones folks.
Pac, you're killing me - a gasoline powered sweater and a radio contolled golf ball.
How about this one - a prescription windshield- so you don't have to wear glasses or contacts to drive- and just think what it's do to prevent car theft!

Are you a "serious" player?
The professional golfer Lee Trevino defined a serious bet as the time when he bet $50 on a round of golf and only had 5 bucks in his pocket.
I would define a serious lottery player as someone that played a large combination wheel in a pick-5 or lotto game and not somebody that bet the same amount of money on QPs. Granted, both are just large bets but a serious player would have a methodology for choosing which numbers to play giving them a better chance of breaking even or winning a couple of

Non believers
For the most part I simply don't discuss the lottery with my friends and relatives, since I know most don't play and most consider it a waste of money. But what would I say if challenged?
I don't play golf. I don't go bowling. I don't have country club fees. I don't go to casinos. I don't spend money on DVDs or movies and no longer spend it on season tickets to the opera. I buy a few lottery tickets once in a while and think I get my entertainment value for the money from just thinking
