Sports-Betting Operation Shuts Web Site
An offshore sports-betting operation targeted by U.S. prosecutors shut down its Web site Tuesday night, a day after a federal judge ordered the company to stop letting Americans place wagers.
BetOnSports PLC said it was temporarily stopping all transactions while it reviewed the situation.
Earlier on Tuesday, the site had appeared to be operating normally, offering bets on Major League baseball and season-opening college football games.
The company's founder, Gary Stephen Kaplan, the

US House votes to kill Internet gambling
Take steps to curb gaming on Internet
Critics find a lot of reasons the U.S. House of Representative's recent legislation to curb Internet gambling cannot succeed:
* Online gambling is extremely widespread, originating mostly outside the boundaries and influence of the United States.
* As many as 80 countries allow it in some form. There are already some 2,500 Internet gambling sites, and the number is growing rapidly.
* Many religious organizations won't get behind the bill becaus

Agent provacateurs
There's always been a systemic set of posts on LP (since I've been here) hinting, or coming right out and saying the people making the posts believed LP is infiltrated by the other side of the lottery game, the state and multi-state organizations.
Recently those kinds of hints appear to me to have increased.
Certainly there's no doubt the site is visited by members of the lottery organizations. There's never been any subterfuge, never any secret about that. It's entirely legitimate and a

A Texas Lottery jackpot was "bought" last year, but legislators are pushing wrong solution
Media echo chamber confuses problem and misleads public
Exclusive Lottery Post investigative report
By Kate Northrop
Last year, a New Jersey-based group essentially bought a $95 million Lotto Texas jackpot by purchasing all the possible number combinations. Now state legislators are eying possible measures to prevent it from happening again, but those solutions may do more harm than good.
A New Jersey-based group called Rook TX gamed the odds by buying nearly every number combin

Answer Me This...
I realize that from a Florida Fantasy5 players perspective going to two draws per day flat out stinks, and that me posting all of the hidden benefits for the Florida Lottery doesn't make it any better for players.
However there is one more thing I'd like to say and then I'll stop my long winded rants. I think in 2020 (not sure if that's the correct year or not, but if it's not 2020 then it's close to 2020) The New York Lottery implemented two drawings per day for their Pick5 game, Take5. Tak

Certified randomness using a trapped-ion quantum processor
From ARXIV.org
While quantum computers have the potential to perform a wide range of practically important tasks beyond the capabilities of classical computers, realizing this potential remains a challenge. One such task is to use an untrusted remote device to generate random bits that can be certified to contain a certain amount of entropy. Certified randomness has many applications but is fundamentally impossible to achieve solely by classical computation. In this work, we demonstrate the

West Virginia to add daily draw games to online ticket sales offerings
Interesting that three state lotteries have very different opinions on Online sales. The Tennessee Lottery now offers Online PB sales to compete with growing competition from sports betting , the WVA Lottery is offering sales of more of their drawn games, and the Indiana Legislators believe implications of the bill on the state's gambling industry as a whole were too complex and worrying that the proposed legislation would cannibalize brick-and-mortar operations .

Has anyone ever received a winning lottery check at their job?
The segment did point out that most of the retailers they visited did the right thing by explaining the ticket has to be cashed at a lottery office or by mail. Some even gave her the claim form and explained how to complete it.
It could have been complaints or people who cash a lot of winning tickets who were associated with these stores. If someone is cashing a lot of winning tickets at the lottery office and they are in a job where they check lottery tickets, such as a clerk or owner of a
