Powerball's Match 5 Bonus Pool Rule
Quote: Originally posted by weshar75 on April 10, 2005I emailed powerball and they sent their reply back that they would not get rid of the rule because it is for greed purposes. I guess they don't want to be held to a 500 or 600 million dollar standard so we will just have to settle for 340 million and 50 to 100 other millionaires. They also said they slow the growth of record jackpots because some people play only for a record, and if they hit a record of $700 million this year, they miss

110 people match 5 white powerball #'s
I believe 110 winners is a record. I checked the three previous record Powerball jackpots of $314.9, $295.7 and $294.8 million. Those three draws all had fewer than 110 winners. The largest had 91 second tier winners. Now there may be another draw that did not have a large jackpot with more than 110 second tier winners. If there was a higher number, I expected to find it when tickets sales were at their highest (that is, record jackpots).Good luck,Jake

Will Powerball Rollover??
$365 million is more realistic since they slow the growth of record jackpots!

mega millions and powerball poll
I personally hope Powerball hits $400 Million first and it certainly can happen, but once we reach $314.9 million, the national and international media headlines of New Record Pb Jackpot Up for Grabs will stoke the fires of an already existing feeding frenzy for tickets. The resistance level for a roll-over beyond the old single recipient record will undoubtedly be substantial as those who don't usually participate or have never played Powerball will be buying tickets on a hope-for-a-record wh

PA Record Jackpots
The following are the largest Cash 5 jackpots in the history of the game:9/7/1995 - $1,590,354 (6 winning tickets)9/16/2000 - $1,107,725 (5 winning tickets)3/17/1996 - $1,000,000 (one winning ticket)10/16/2004 - $957,316 (one winning ticket)So that's the record, $1.5 million, not the $4 million so said on the jackpot page.
