And for my Next Trick friday's Mega Millions Prediction [Hard]
Even if you had enough money to buy all 258,890,850 possible MM combinations, figuring the jackpot cash value at 65% of the annuity amount, the jackpot would have to be $254,672,914.00 for you to break even if you deducted the cost of tickets off your taxes other wise you would end up losing money.

Wisconsin MegaBucks $$
Annuity $19.1 million Cash $14.0 million Absolutely amazing to me that no one has won this thing yet. I know we are already at the cash option record with $14m. Does anyone know what the record annuity jackpot is? I have my $2 in for Saturday! And for each drawing thereafter until it finally does get hit!

TLC's The Lottery Changed My Life
I honestly hope his friend is truly looking out for him and is not taking advantage of him. I see that he took the annuity and will continue to receive payments untill he reaches 70.

Illinois man claims $265 million Mega Millions lottery jackpot
70!! Well sure has hell isn't going to be taking the annuity! I'm surprised he didn't have a heat attack when he found out he won. It's easy to say that at his age he didn't need the money, but the luck of the draw determined otherwise I suppose.

NC Powerball winner identifies herself
I am glad she won too. I hope she takes annuity because she is assured that $$ will last. I don't think anything is going to happen to her, she is protected now. At least she still got her kids and didn't give them up---she is blessed.

$485 MILLION: Powerball jackpot raised
With the way the annuity is back end loaded, the true annualized return is less than 2%. I was shown the spreadsheet comparing that to returns of 3,4 and 5% and was left with absolutely no doubt that I would choose the lump sum.

$485 MILLION: Powerball jackpot raised
I would enjoy getting that single sweet near $200 Million after all taxes. Lump sum is the way to go if you win, you can easily invest better than 5% per year gains the PB annuity offers.

Why people who won the jackpot frequently decide to choose money cash over annuity money?
cash v. annuity. I use to think it depends. Now I vote cash.

'Mirage' jackpots
I agree that many people believe that the advertised jackpot is what a winner receives. It doesn't help when the media starts showing examples of what you can buy using the entire advertised pre-tax amount. A lot of folks also don't know that the annuity payments are progressively weighted. The winner gets about 4 times at he end of their payments when compared to the first few which by that time has depreciated considerably due to many factors such as inflation and the value of the dollar.
