$450 MILLION: Powerball lottery jackpot nears record
Maybe. But only if I found out that I'd be able to sell the 29 remaining annuity payments to JG Wentworth or Peachtree and get more than the current cash value.

$380 MILLION: Massive sales push Powerball jackpot higher
Interesting, it looks as if the Jackpot will move up to 5th place overall from 10th that it was currently in. But the cash amount will only move up one spot from 6th place to 5th place. So both the cash and the annuity have come together in the 5th spot.

$380 MILLION: Massive sales push Powerball jackpot higher
Thanks to you and other media outlets for highlighting the cash value being one of the largest. The casual player often focuses on the annuity value and wouldn't have responded like this if that wasn't clarified.

$380 MILLION: Massive sales push Powerball jackpot higher
Could you imagine the frenzy with a billion dollar jackpot (annuity)? Lines would be a mile wrapped around every lottery retailer! LP would go into overdrive. We will have to take up a collection to send Todd and his team oxygen and Starbucks gift certificates.

$380 MILLION: Massive sales push Powerball jackpot higher
The annuity value jumped up $20 million yet the cash value only went up $6.3 million. No matter what I'll take it. Now if someone from the forum can be so lucky this Saturday! Sweet dreams everyone and don't forget to buy your ticket....I will be getting mine tomorrow??

Powerball heats up with $317 million jackpot
317M$A or 220M$C? I would take the cash - but depending on the day, I would opt for the annuity - more options for starting fresh each year. What lovely problems to have! Already in the top 25! Good luck everyone!

MegaMillions is ready to be won again
Have to look at the pool as a whole: 134.9/206 65.49% (1.53) 144.8/221 65.52% (1.53) Note that the actual cash was $134.9 million for Tuesday's drawing. Don't forget the advertised jackpots are only estimates and based on sales projections. They use the same interest factor for the next jackpot as the current one, and they don't always disclose the actual cash in the prize pool, which is why it seems like you get less (more) annuity for the cash. So if they used X for this jackpot th

MegaMillions is ready to be won again
That would be nice! Doubtful though, I would say less than 5% chance of even coming close. If my projections are correct it should top out at between $400 million and $515 million annuity. Of course it could hit next draw but another $200-$400 million in sales would have it aligned to longterm expectancy quite nicely.

Woman almost gave away her $1.3M lottery ticket
California Lottery is going backwards. They raised the odds for most top prizes on their scratchers in 2014. They improved the 2nd chance drawings by reducing payouts by millions (sneaky marketing is on-going). So, I'm not surprised they take a bigger cut when calculating the annuity payout than other states.
