Oklahoma couple claims $106M Powerball lottery jackpot
What is wrong with all these winners? $35 million and you are going to still drive around a truck? That is completely absurd. Buy the business, and sit back and get even more rich while doing a lot less! $35 million will give you A LOT of opportunities and create things to do if you are not a complete moron. Golf is only one minute example in the vast universe. I have no idea why these types of people even play the lottery, as it is very obvious they do not want to spend money, nor create a

Can IRS make you pay taxes if you give lottery tickets as gifts?
I would not think so. Reson being, I worked for a company a few years ago that used to give employees that met a certain (high-dollar) sales quota gifts such as golf clubs, or a putter, or an umbrella, pen/pencil sets, etc. but we also had to 1099 them for anything we gave them. A lot of the folks turned down the gifts and told us to just keep them, they didn't want the hassle of a $30 1099'enble item.

Off topic: Please do NOT pump gas on May 15th!!
It's the same with paper products and recycling. Businesses and industrial plants create most of the waste. Anyone who has worked in an office knows that many wastebaskets are emptied every day. I only empty my trash once a week and hardly fill up a small can. In FL we have water restrictions and the drought is getting worse by the day. Now the news is reporting that the air we are breathing might not be healthful (as if that's new!) because of the smoke from the brush fires. Anywa

Vancouver lottery winner loses in divorce case
justxploring: Yeah, I know in some camps what I am doing might be considered foul play...doing anything that one must keep a secret from their spouse...but in discussions like this with my wife, we have agreed that their are times when we have to agree to disagree and keep loving each other. However, she was really adamant THAT I NOT PLAY the lottery...kind of like she was commanding me as though I were a child. Of course, you know what usually happens when you tell a child not to do someth

Texas - 04/02 thru 04/30/2007
Thanks Delores. Ole Duke and I love you too. Thanks for all of the info. Looks like I'll be reading many books to Duke. He and I can use all the help we can get right now. To say we are in a tailspin downwards is an understatement. Duke suggested I dig ten holes in the backyard and use one of those sticks folks use to determine if there is water underneath or not. Then, Duke suggests I start walking and note the position of the stick. If the stick starts pointing downwards, thats the first numbe

A Model for What to do with the Jackpot You just Won
Since I live in Chicago, I would tell you the primary reason I would get the f**k out of Chitown after winning a huge lottery jackpot...to escape to warmer weather and year round golf! Now I would maintain a residence here, but I would only occupy it during the late spring thru early fall months (May - September); after that, I would be hopping on my lear jet back south to either Georgia, Arizona, Texas, California, or Florida (I haven't made up my mind on which locale I would live during the w

Why the sudden concern with anonymity ?
I think people are too paranoid with this anonymity thing...everyone knows that most all celebrities, pro athletes, and top level business people are wealthy...those who run into trouble are those who 1) went looking for it (why frequent a night club at 1 AM when u know there are drunk people and opportunistic people all around...don't even start with the strip clubs and guns), 2) didn't surround themselves with a trusted team of legal, investment, and tax advisors, and 3) those who put out the
