Online Playing--the Bottomline
I confess I ahave not kept up-to-date with the news and legislation. I am not asking for legal advice, I just need to know from other like-minded persons/players/lottery fans what is the buzz about online playing?
Is it legal as far as you are aware? What should I be aware of? I am not asking for websites, just yr own knowledge. I just need the bottomline in simple English, please. Thanks.
PMs welcomed.

Congressman leads charge to regulate USA online gambling
I sincerely hope you're correct. But I've never seen a politician that ever met a dollar he didn't want to spend. Add to that the fact that they are now pushing the limit on the people's backs with their massive and ever-increasing spending, and they are seriously on the lookout for each and everything they can tax. Our own governor wants legislation that will even tax e-cards on the Internet. They really go berzerker when they see something that isn't taxed. They can't stand the idea that th

Congressman leads charge to regulate USA online gambling
What a bunch of garbage ! Originally, they pontificated about how their legislation was to protect people from financial ruin due to online gambling.
Now their true colors come out. All they really wanted was a big piece of the pie ! It's all about the money and how much of it they can get into their coffers to spend!
How much you want to bet (even though its illegal at the moment) that they will tax your winnings, but not allow you to deduct your losses?

Why can teenagers play the lotto?
Before 1994 in Ontario, anyone under 18 could play the lottery. In fact, a 13 year old girl Paula Salmon at the live lottery draw in Cloyne, Ontario won $100,000 on the live Wintario draw that was being held at her high school. This was back in March 1983. She purchased the ticket at the door with her birthday money. Before the commecial break, Wintario host Faye Dance said, I think we have a big winner out here we think. After the break, the applause and roar of the Wintario audience was

Cancer victim struggles to get $1 million lottery prize in lump sum
For those of you who get on me because I frequently complain about NY's annuity-only scratch games, this is exactly why I do so. Any bill introduced into legislation to give Mr Schenk the money upfront should apply to ALL lottery winners in NY state. I also think Mr Schenk should try to contact new Gov Eliot Spitzer. This has given the NY Lottery a black eye, just as with Louise Outing with MA Megabucks. NY does have a new lottery director. I seem to be encouraged by him (the NY Lottery took a s

BetSlips going out of business?
Dear Howard,
Thank you for writing to us.
Betslips.com is not a USA company, so we are not directly subject to USA government laws, but we will not do anything that we understand to be in direct violation of USA law. Just like other companies in the gaming sector, we are currently evaluating the impact, if any, of the new legislation. Some highlights of the legislation we feel are important to USA customers:
* The law does not appear to update the Wire Act of 1961, meaning that it do

Internet gambling restrictions attached to port bill
The port security and Internet gambling legislation was approved 409 to 2 in the House and on a voice vote in the Senate early today, as lawmakers rushed to leave Washington for their fall reelection campaigns.
LOL ! Gotta love it. They didn't even think that the Internet Gambling bill was serious enough to stand on its own. They just saw it as a way of covering their butts. The one paragraph pretty much says it all:
House and Senate Republican leaders pushed hard to secure the Intern

E! Television to air 'Curse of the Lottery' Sunday
Because it is important for everyone to know what happened so it will not happen to them... Michael Finney is the consumer reporter for ABC news in San Francisco... He told me that the story did not get much news coverage in that area and he wants the people to know... besides that he spoke of proposing legislation that would require all lottery retailers to install video cameras that would be used to varify the purchaser of winning lottery tickets.... Not all retailers have video cameras.... Ho

By hook or by crook: lawmakers relentless on taking away online rights
As NROG reported earlier this week Sen Bill Frist is actively seeking to attach his online gambling ban to a new piece of legislation. NROG has been entrenched in D.C for the last several days and after a very late night last night and a rough morning we learned that his sights are back on the DoD bill. This after a clear outright refusal last week by Sen. Warner and Sen. Levin. In the last several hours, Frist has gained momentum on this fight after compromising on a carve out for the Horse Rac
