Lottery winner sues advisors for poor policies
Had he taken the annuity, he could have reinvested $5-$7 millions badly every year and still been in good shape. Maybe he should have invested in a bigger grocery store and left the rest in the bank.

One ticket wins $400 million Powerball jackpot
The one person who just claimed the win chose to remain anonymous. South Carolina lottery didn't even say whether it was lump sum or annuity.

Well, another sole winner, that's not me.
I wonder why the annuity decreased to 399.4m instead of the 400m advertised. It usually increases...Oh well, the winner don't have much complain now.

Anyone who sees themselves broke in 10 years would be best off taking the annuity option. Thirty years of graduated payments exceeding a million bucks will support a pretty good lifestyle for those 3 decades.

Twelve things not to do if you win the lottery
Thanks for the good advice. Usually select the annuity option and was surprised when my accountant suggested that I take it as a lump sum, to avoid having to file returns every year for this windfall.
Did not think this was good advice. Still believe that smart folks would rather have an annuity payment over 20 years, than to have a lump sum burning a hole in your pocket .
Since I have not won anything big to worry about at this time, still like to remember the authur of this article's good

7 years later, real winner awarded $5M lottery jackpot
May the Miles family enjoy and safely invest their tidy post-taxed annuity payments!!! Please don't get confused and increase your drugs or quite your jobs though. Cheers!

Twelve things not to do if you win the lottery
Prince, you have a great point. I have always wondered why the lotteries give the winners only two choices. The ideal choices for me would be, four choices.
...CHOICE #1...Publicity or no publicity?
...CHOICE #2...LUMP SUM
...CHOICE #3...Annuity
...CHOICE #4...50% LUMP SUM and 50% annuity.
Given these choices, if I still go broke, then I deserve to be slapped upside the head.

Twelve things not to do if you win the lottery
Its unfortunate that nobody, even talks about taking the annuity, instead of the lump sum anymore.
But many members talk about getting a team of financial advisers. Do you really think any financial adviser would tell their client to take the annuity?
Most people outgrow their stupidity within the first five years.
Are there any stipulations on the claim forms of how any jackpot winner spends their winnings?
Did an actual jackpot winner ask for your advice or do you just know wha

Twelve things not to do if you win the lottery
Well I'm not paying for it, even if it is advice lol. With whatever gets deposited into my bank account I will write a check to a guy named Moe who will make sure I get a perminate income (no annuity) for the rest of my life, and I will spend the rest. Case clsoed. lol.
