Lottery draw witnesses
Browsing through the PA Lottery site I came across this. Seems they invite folks unconnected to the lottery to witness the drawings, tests, compliance with procedures, both before and after the draws. I've looked at a lot of official lottery sites, but I've never seen reference to such practices by other states. Most don't even make it easy to discover when and where drawings are conducted. Seems to me this is a great means of maintaining public involvement and trust. Are any of you a

A BLIND TRUST to claim anonymously?
This inquiry started in the thread "How do you claim a $267,000,000 prize?" but I'm moving it under a topic more likely to attract the attention of those specifically interested in this subject. In that thread I inquired about smart ways to claim your jackpot winnings that would allow one to preserve anonymity, minimize taxes and maximize protection... Unfortunately, all replies there were just cheap and unhelpful comments, really. I was surprised when I later got a wealth of info afte

Winning a lottery jackpot can't guarantee happiness
Sudden wealth is good for most lottery winners, but not all For some people, winning the big jackpot can turn out to be a big mistake. William Bud Post III called it the lottery of death. The Pennsylvania man, who died in January at 66, hit a $16.2 million lottery jackpot in 1988. After that, his sixth wife left him, a woman sued for a third of the winnings, he failed at business ventures with siblings, and spent time in jail for firing a gun over a bill collector's head. His bro

Ultimately, the decision could come down to whether the lottery is considered a tax. Lottery opponents from both the left and the right filed suit last year a

DC 5 Lottery needs to be audited immediately. The same thing that happened to Tennessee in 2007
Yeah, something is askew. Tonight's DC5 draw makes 40 repeats of the A B C D E - Singles. Below is a % Probability and Odds table for an event that has an average rate of reoccurrence of (100,000 / 30,240) 3.31 draws. As the repeats keep happening, the probability diminish and the odds grow exponentially. Tomorrow's midday draw would make a singles repeat the 41 st consecutive and the odds of the happening are 1 in 242,413.45. We're not saying it's impossible, just very impro

Winner of $877,800 Idaho Cash jackpot is infamous bulk buyer
Idaho legislation moves along bill to ban bulk lottery ticket purchases By Kate Northrop The Idaho Lottery's initial suspicions that a bulk purchaser was at play during a jackpot run that resulted in an $877,800 Idaho Cash win were correct when it was confirmed that an entity known for executing jackpot buyouts came forward to claim the prize. In response to restless national sentiment surrounding the nature of jackpot buyouts and a recent $877,800 Idaho Cash win, Idaho state legisla
