Michigan lottery winners could remain anonymous under House bill
You've heard the touching stories: a waitress, retiree or unemployed worker hits the jackpot and wins the state lottery. Under a bill approved by the Michigan House Regulatory Reform committee on a 13-2 vote Wednesday, those stories would probably disappear because all lottery winners would be able to remain anonymous. The bill would prohibit the state lottery office from disclosing information about an individual who won any lottery prize unless that winner authorizes the release of infor

Iowa Lottery to shorten prize claim periods for multi-state games
As long as they then allow anonymous claims on those games also! I do not know of anyone who has all their legal ducks in a row for a big jackpot claim. I know if it were anonymous Multi State claims here I would not what 6 Minutes to go claim a prize let alone 6 months. I would contact a lawyer and an a tax guy on my way to Lansing if the Multi State Claims were anonymous here.

Worst things Lottery Officials have done to Lottery Winners? :/
A Couple won The Lottery and ACTUALLY tried to claim the Winnings through an Anonymous Trust which is allowed if you don't want to come forward in a forced Press Conference... The Lottery Officials KNEW they wanted to claim their Winnings through an Anonymous Trust, and STILL forced them to come forward in a forced Press Conference... So messed up... Their forced Press Conference was put on YouTube and YouTube Viewers were like, Why do these Lottery Winners look like depressed Zombies? They shou

Bill to allow lottery winners to remain anonymous passes Virginia Senate
even though NH rules state you can't be anonymous. Turns out there's not actually a rule that says lottery winners can't be anonymous. NH has an open records law that makes information about most government business available to the public. The lottery believed that complying with that law required them to treat the identities of winners as information that was public under the state law because what the lottery does is government business. I read the ruling but don't remember much detai

Mom wins largest individual Powerball in Australian lottery history
Good for the winner. Some people here are still in a dither about the South Carolina winner not coming forward yet, even though SC is an anonymous state. Since Australia allows winners to be anonymous I'm guessing that won't be the case there. Anonymous and no taxes, way to go Australia.

You just won a huge lottery jackpot! Now what?
The burning first question that never seems to be answered satisfactorily is: Should you really sign the ticket - if you want to remain anonymous? And that is a question that ideally would be answered before you find advisors. Of course, lottery officials tell you to do so, because they don't want people to be anonymous. But, assume you want to remain anonymous, and you are going to claim the prize in a trust (many do that in Texas), do you sign your name on the ticket - that may (???) be di

Judge rules $560M Powerball lottery winner can stay anonymous
In Australia, you do have a choice nationwide whether to be anonymous or not. Very rare that someone goes public. The reasoning why the anonymous choice was brought in was that the NSW lottery was owned by the NSW government, and enforced this choice as a duty of care. Now it is operated by Tatts Ltd,it still honors that status quo. So if anything,I'm all for being private,no matter where in the world you are. Being anonymous does more good than harm IMO when it comes to personal safety. Not to
