Frist continues crusade against Internet gambling
this frist guy is a complete idiot.whats does military operations have to do with internet gambling?
_____
It has nothing to do with it .... but I've been incensed many times in the past when stupid legislation and pork Democrats stealthily attached to other bills and voted on in the middle of the night have become law. So if it passes I suppose people are going to have to adapt. That's the way Washington works like it or not.

US House votes to kill Internet gambling
Mike, since the banking industry seems to be the steam roller behind this bill then it doesn't look good for online gamblers.
Banking industry is no doubt the lobby behind recent bankruptcy law changes, also recent credit card repayment tightening so this legislation looks like the third big wheel on the steam roller. All makes sense to me.
However, one question is whether debit cards fall under the same category as credit cards, also do bank drafts fall under the category of wire transfe

Online gambling threatened by U.S. legislators
I'm very much in favor of individual state lotteries being able to sell tickets online.
Were it legal then I would do so in the comfort of my own home just like any other online purchase.
.... also feel that ticket sales would be increased for all state lotteries set up to sell online.
I suppose the bill being considered before congress is why Georgia tabled their online ticket sales proposal until whatever legislation makes its way through on a federal level.

California judge rules in favor of Mega Millions lottery
Gold Rush - subscription sales in CA were never more than about 1.5% of sales for the available games and because of the way they chose to operate the subscription system (as a phony baloney, unautomated [meaning manual handling of subscriotion requests], make work job support system for state employees) it was actually a drain on profits for CA education.
I never had a doubt that MM was legal in CA - the wording of the enabling Ammendment and Legislation is not ambiguous in this area. T

online poll....will H.R. 411 become law?
To my knowledge there are statutes on the books federally stemming from racketeering laws enacted in the 30's that prohibits the US mail from carrying any lottery materials across state lines which is why even winning tickets sent through the mail seems to be a gray area. I believe that statute prohibits even play slips or other enticements being sent through the mail.
Believe there was one change to those laws under Clinton but am not clear as to what it was.
Our Georgia legislature is

Mailing lottery tickets ?
Title 18 of the U. S. Postal Code was adopted in 1956 as a measure against organized crime and certain money-laundering schemes they used to legitimize the money they earned in illegal activities.
With the conviction of Al Capone in 1931, the IRS began taking a very active part in lobbying for this type of federal legislation. Following the repeal of the Prohibition Act in 1933, illegal gambling quickly emerged as the Mob's primary source of income. Lottery tickets are included in Title 18 b

Once again, U.S. tries to shut down Internet gambling
<< Similar legislation has been introduced over the years, but has been thwarted consistently by notorious gambling lobbyist Jack Abramoff. >>
I see I'm not the only one who singled out that line. Abramoff is notorious for his bribery, not his lobbying, and he didn't thwart anything. He can hand out money and lobby until the end of the world, and the laws will still be the result of what our legisators do. It isn't lobbying that's the problem. It's legislators who do what's in the

Study in Prediction for Jeff's "R" State.
Thanks Lantern! You know, it is absolutely insane the amount of money and combinations you play here with nothing back. Its at a point where I can actually predict what type of combo based on what I play.(ie. 4,6,12, and 24 way). Again, they have it down to a tea. There is nothing random about it! The odds DO NOT happen. Talking to people, most are disgusted with this and see it. It just continues. My God, the payouts are absolutely ridiculous. How can they even display them they are so bad. Tenn. Senator seeks more funds for lottery scholars
A state lawmaker's crusade to increase the amount of Tennessee's lottery scholarships is raising concerns among his colleagues and the governor, who say giving full scholarships this early in the program may create a financial crisis down the road.Sen. Steve Cohen, the main sponsor of the bill that created the scholarships last year, said he wants them to fully cover tuition at the state's colleges and universities.Currently, scholarships cover about 75% of students' tuition and fees.Cohen, a Me
