Will new tax hikes affect lottery pay outs
The Federal taxes are projected to go up from 35% to 39%. Then you add state income taxes to calculate total tax bill on income above $250,000 as President Obama is proposing. In my state we don't have a city tax like they do in NYC but we do have state income tax so my total tax burden would be 39% + 5 % = 43 % of any jackpot winning from January 2013. So annuity winners will pocket about 1/3 of their winnings lol damm .

Mega Millions - No Winner, JP Stays At $12M
I guess Mega Millions has no guaranteed minimum rollovers like Powerball does. Up until this year, I thought Mega Millions had to increase by at least $2 million for every draw there is no winner. To compete with Powerball, and taking into consideration Mega Millions' annuity is paid in equal installments, as opposed to the graduated installments Powerball pays, in addition to its $1 ticket price, as opposed to Powerball's $2 ticket price, Mega Millions should up its opening jackpot to $16 milli

Will Powerball rollover?
The cash value is determined by the current interest rate on the investment they would make to achieve the 50 million annuity. The cash value doesn't have anything to do with sales.

$500 MILLION: Powerball jackpot increased to a half-billion dollars
After taxes in NY, it now stands at $216,673,320 for one time cash, or $330,900,000 over 30 years. That amount in annuity is $11,030,000 average per year / $919,166 per month / $30,638 per day.

$425 MILLION: Largest Powerball lottery jackpot in history
I play every drawing because the one time I was guilted into not playing a set of numbers by my wife, they hit when the MM jackpot was a mere $12 million annuity. That $4 million after taxes would have been much better for me. And I have observed a few lucky souls hit right after the big amount was hit previously...I don't think they are complaining about how they spent their dollar(s).

$425 MILLION: Largest Powerball lottery jackpot in history
Powerball was smart to remove their record jackpot cap. If they still had it, the jackpot would be at only $390 million annuity. The reason PB used to have the cap was because they know some players only play when the jackpot is a record, and if they set a record at $725 million, they miss chances to set records at $425 million, $525 million, $625 million, etc. I guess they FINALLY realized that if they don't take records away from themselves, Mega Millions will.

Will Any Of You Powerball Haters Be Playing On This Next Draw?
Good luck to you all, I hope you win. On the other hand if I win, I won't be worried about pre-tax annuity or sharing because I'm probably the only one who played the combinations I posted.

Follow-up: Would you take MORE money to NOT remain anonymous?
Oregon does not allow anonymous winners. So I will take the annuity and have a little press conference and go home. Good luck to me on saturday night!-weshar75
