Mega Millions in Trouble?
mega millions is not in trouble at all. The low increases in the annuity is due for the most part, to historically low interest rates set by the Federal Reserve. Remember when you could go to the bank and get a one year CD (certificate of deposit) with a 5 percent yield? That's a thing of the past and they're not coming back anytime soon. Annuities with high yields are becoming harder and harder to find. You can thank Ben Bernanke for that.

How many people play PB or MM regardless of the Jackpot size?
I do not like to play the lottery like a lab rat. Therefore I play when the mega millions and powerball jackpots reach $100M annuity.

Brooklyn teen wins $1,000 a week for life
College educations are over rated. Most kids go to college because it makes their folks happy.I think the kid will do alright with his $1,000 a week before taxes. He'll probably piss some of it away at first,it's only naturalat his age. Then he'll settle down and probably get a job and live quite comfortably with his annuity payments.I wish him luck and additional good fortune in life.

Powerball lottery jackpot makes Iowa history
I don't care that 20 people will split $241 million annuity/$160 million CV because that boils down to $8 million each before taxes or about $5 million after taxes. I am all in for the $40 million / $26.6 million Saturday drawing since when I hit, I will be able to quietly walk away with about $18 million after taxes. Sure, that is $5 million more than any of them and many of us had on Wednesday, but I admit I am selfish and would hate to be sharing when lady luck smiles on me.

IL LOTTO had 9 Winners (!) Last Night...
I would bet a fortune cookie had those numbers. This is why you should NEVER play numbers like that. A 400k annuity or about a 140k lump sum after taxes. Better off hitting the little lotto. To beat 10 mil to one odds and get such a pittance would make me ill.

$2 PB Jackpots Now Rising More Slowly Than $1 PB Jackpots Did.
weshar - i did not notice that the jackpot fell short of the advertised amount. yikes! that doesnt happen that often. yet another good reason to take the cash value (yes i know they purchase an annuity and your money is 'locked' in)... take the money and run! before PB falls!

$2 PB Jackpots Now Rising More Slowly Than $1 PB Jackpots Did.
I noticed that when the jackpot drawing come last night the jackpot was not even $164 million it was $158.8 million. So powerball did not even sell enough tickets to get to the advertised jackpot. So they raised it to $177 million which is a $18.2 million increase hopefully with the 4 days of sales they will be able to get to the advertised jackpot annuity.-weshar75

PowerBall finally may has the edge it's been seeking
Actually, I don't know WHY MM rolled by its minimum amount, because last night's sales were $18.7 million, which would have supported a cash jackpot of ~$6 million. Of course, since Friday ticket sales tend to be higher than Tuesday ticket sales at any given jackpot amount, one would expect sales for Tuesday to be from $16-$17 million, so the cash jackpot should roll to at least $11 million, which would support an annuity of at least $15 million. Maybe MM fixed prize reserves are running low too

$102 million lottery winners - 17 years later
Unless you take out loans against the annuity or sell it like some fools have done which then usually follows with their getting into tax problems. Neither way is exactly safe really.

A trick to remain anonymous?
Another trick might be to give your dog a full human name and SS#. With a little practice, you should be able to train him (or her ), to sign the annuity or one time checks with the paw. This should be a preferably younger dog or pup, to guarantee the continued acceptance of the annuity checks. (20-25 years). The public appearance should be a snap, just throw on a little makeup, shave the face, and tell the officials he came down with laryngitis. Why pay the banks some exorbitan
