When was the last time you saw a multi-state lottery jackpot...
Yes, as I've said before, the MUSL should dissolve Powerball and just turn Mega Millions into the old $1 Powerball by having it go to a graduated annuity and increasing the opening jackpot to $20 million with minimum increases of $5 million. Of course, Florida will have to join Mega Millions first.

NY Sweet Millions
I dont get why people here dont like SM. Better to win $1m at 1:3.8m than $250k at 1:3.9m with MM or now with PB forcing you to waste $2 1:5.1m. Pick10 is $500k 1:8.9m and yes, Take5 does have higher low prizes, but jp is low, and is often shared by 2 or even more winners. In fact, now MM is $25 annuity, thus 3.8 x 25 = 95. But cash is lower jp, thus SM is better then even PB.

Question about Lump Sum or Annuity
In the FAQ section at powerball website they have this same question asked and they will sell the annuity for the winner's estate at no charge. So the estate gets a lump sum check to pay the estate taxes and then divide it however the estate wants. I would think it is the same for mega millions too since they are basically the same game. But I have not looked it up on the mega millions website.-weshar75

Question about Lump Sum or Annuity
Incorrect. If you die before the lottery finishes paying your annuity, your estate collects the remainder. I've seen elsewhere on this forum that it's paid out all at once as opposed to continuing the annual payments, though.

Record Jackpots
I think Florida should join Mega Millions, the MUSL should dissolve Powerball, and Mega Millions should go to an opening jackpot of $16 million with minimum increases of $4 million (or $20 million opening jackpot with $5 million minimum increases if MM changes to a graduated annuity like PB).

48 Philly transit workers win $172M Powerball jackpot
As far I know, there is no rule that disqualifies players from continuing to buy lottery tickets after winning some chump change annuity for a $100K per year. I would continue buying tickets and using that chump change to pay for them.

How long till the next big one?
Now that the impossible has become possible, the jackpot will reach a one-time awesome jaw breaking $1, 900,000,000.00 dollars! Want to take the annuity on this one? Good idea, if you are young maybe or if you are old, leave to an trust fund---get some legal advice, but why do i? It will be a one winner and it will be me!

NY lottery winner charged with welfare fraud
The article didn't indicate if this NY Lottery annual annuity collector has any dependants currently. That information would help to understand his annual expenses situation better. And knowing if a job layoff situation is involved.

N.Y. woman claims $70 million Powerball jackpot
As is typical, momzbabz1, this jackpot winner DIDN'T take the much larger annuitized amount. So, approximately 38% of the reduction had nothing to do with taxes, but rather 28 years of delayed annuity gains reduction.

Anyone else find the jump in MM j/p surprising?
You're getting it now, Stack47. In fact, the last two Powerball jackpots awarded (the guaranteed pots of $60 million and $70 million annuity) were in the red.
