Record Powerball lottery won by one Nebraskan
Hi everyone. First post here. (love your posts btw Chewie!) Gift taxes are a pain, but you can get out of them if you only give $12,000 to each friend or family member per year. Or, for instance, if you're married (even if your spouse was not claimed on the winning ticket), you and your spouse can each give $12K to each of your kids/siblings and their partners. That's $48K a year tax free for all parties (not counting the tax you originally paid on the winnings and interest).

Once again, U.S. tries to shut down Internet gambling
Well I don't play on line but I think this could come to pass. And one of the reasons I think so is not really mentioned here in this article. The state lotteries have a vested interested in this. From their perspective they are losing money on line bets. They of course don't make any money from on line bets and they can't regulate or control on line bets. If they can put an end to on line betting then the people who play will either have to stop playing or play in state. If they play in s

Powerball lottery madness spreads to big media
Exclusive Lottery Post StoryNow that the multi-state Powerball jackpot is sitting at its highest level ever, everyone is taking notice, creating a barrage of big-media news stories.Unfortunately for the public, the big media is making some mistakes.Although the mistakes at first may seem innocuous, they add up to create player confusion. When a lottery game's jackpot reaches the upper-limits, people who don't normally buy tickets get interested. And those are the people who will be most affect

Mega Millions fuels California lottery sales record
i will be glad to... now i want you take a deep breath and think about this issue removing your emotions (a need to win fueled by irrational thought process's) ...and inserting rational thought(s) instead. this stuff is really easy. someone is always going to win eventually (it could be you). after the odds get high enough that they cannot be covered (like maybe in a pick3 game where the odds are a little more obtainable ), then it becomes a matter of IF you are meant to . i don't see

Sign the petition - eliminate computerized drawings!
Well, to address your viewership question, studies have shown that people want the drawings shown on live TV, even if they don't watch them. They want to know they're there, because then they know it's true and fair. That should totally clarify that point. But why would a TV station air the draws if no one is going to watch them? TV stations make money by selling their time. You are saying that the lottery should be paying for something that no one watches, regardless of how the numbers are g

Interesting reading...
Here is the letter I sent to the MO Lottery Office via e-mail the other day.I read an article the other day about MO lottery sales being down. Ifthat is the case, then I thought I would give you a clue as to why thisis. It is the computerized drawings. I know several (long time, loyal)players who quit playing when you went to computerized drawings, meincluded. I have spent as much a $20 dollars a day in the past on the lottery. But ever since you have started the very untrustworthy and non-rand
