California MM has multiple winners
Just heard on the news that they each put in 3 dollars for a total of 21 total dollars spent on the pool. It goes to show that you don't have to spend a fortune to make one!!!! Here's a link for the developing story. http://cbs2.com/topstories/local_story_320171621.html

California MM has multiple winners
Cool. I bet a lot of hearts were beating very rapidly after the news. I wonder if anyone has ever actualy had a heart attack caused by finding out they won? That would not be good. Lucky for them they get to also spread the fame out more, and be more easily forgotten. Any idea how many tickets the pool played?

Pa. Man Charged With Redeeming Forged Winning Lottery Ticket
I hope he wasn't going through all that trouble to split the $853,000 with his fellow pool members. It might have been one of them that set him up with the forged ticket to cash hoping that once they got their share if any thing came down, he would have to take the fall all by himself. I find it hard to believe that someone would chance going to jail just so their coworkers could have some extra spending money.

Oregon winners and gift tax.
What they have done is no different that what hundreds of thousand, if not millions, of players do - formed a pool and had the ability to show prior existence of the agreement. Being related has nothing to do with the split. All you have to do is convince the right people of a prior condition; agreement to split between the winners.

Record Jackpot Claimed, question!
If one person claimed it all and gave parts of his winnings to other family members, it would be considered a gift and gifts of certain amounts are taxed again. Also if that person died, all the money would be part of his estate and would be subject to taxes again before being transferred to other family members. It just make sense if all the family contributed to purchasing the tickets, everyone gets a share from the get go same as any other lottery pool.

Mega Millions Out Shining Powerball
Once I wrote MUSL an e-mail suggesting they get rid of the match 5 bonus pool, and they said they have it there because some players play only for a record, and if they hit a record of $700 million (which suggests there is no limit on how high the jackpot can go), they'd miss chances to have records at $400 million, $500 million, etc.

NY King Kong Millions online game
brad:I don't see this game selling like hotcakes in the four-week sales period. You have a $225 million Mega Millions jackpot that will probably roll over again. You have a 40% prize pool, which is the same as NY Lotto and don't ask me why so many still throw away money on it. And you're right about so few prizes (only 16 guaranteed.) But I'm hoping KKM will hurt NY Lotto sales. Plus nobody will be able to choose which numbers to play (no betslips).

$500 Million Jackpot!
Even if MUSL inflated their annuity even greater (say, by extending the payments to 40 years), it would still take them quite a while to get a $500 million jackpot, because of their match 5 bonus pool. However, if MM followed MUSL and adjusted their annuity for inflation as well, they would easily break $500 million.

NY King Kong Millions online game
The prize pool for KKM will be 40% of sales. I anticipate unclaimed prize money will be used to guarantee the three prize levels.
