actually the kids may get nothing because annuitized jackpots are taxed at ther full futre value ....so unless they can come up the money to pay the taxes in full they may end up owing money or in debt. cash value is better. they will be taxed on the 5 million....at 50% estated tax...its 2.5 million unless she planned some sort of trustb

Louisiana man collects $97 million Powerball lottery jackpot
My sentiments exactly. Just buy 1 QP. Apparently that is the only way to win these huge jackpots. Doubly frustrating is that he probably plays once a year.

Old People Always Win
You are exactly right there. I sold lotto tickets and the jackpots were what the older people bought. The younger people would scratch or not play anything.

Easy Lotteries Prediction
I must have missed something. If you really believe what you are posting, why aren't you winning some lottery jackpots? You still have time to to win tonight's MegaMillions $120M jackpot. Good luck.

If you won powerball or megamillion
My goal would be to become wealthy with the winnings instead of just rich, part of my drive or whatever would probably be an imaginary competition with other big lotto winners who won similar or bigger jackpots. Yes, that that's probably a little egocentric but, oh well. I wouldn't go around gloating about it, since I still would have enough sense to try and keep the number of people around me who actually knows where a big portion of my money comes from at a minimum.

PA 5 game hits $1M
It's the second time this month it's hit this mark. It got up to $1.8 million. Problem is, these bigger jackpots have come at the expense of smaller prizes.

How Much Will You Shoot At A Jackpot?
I've probably spent maximum 40 dollars on winning jackpots. Usually I spend between 15 and 25 dollars on every draw (which is twice a week).

do you play other state lotteries?
I go to the casinos in LA, when the jackpots are large I will play the Power ball. My friends are from Scotland, and I will play the National and Euro Lotto's when they go home to visit.

I wouldn't bother playing a lottery every week...
For someone on a budget that limits them to just playing a few times a year, it makes sense to only play when the jackpots are big but for others who can afford to buy a ticket or two for every drawing it might not.

I wouldn't bother playing a lottery every week...
$15 million is fine with me. I play consistently every week. Although large jackpots are nice, especially the $250 million, people do win with lesser amounts. So, each poster has his or her incentive for playing -- which I respect.
