Why not let lottery money go into creating jobs for the mean time...??
All very good points The fact that we still send billion dollar checks to other countries and now are adopting a give a man a fish policy is pure stupidity and the height of corruption. Jobs will get created when the government stops trying to micro-manage every aspect of our lives. The sooner we go broke, the sooner our corrupt government will dismantle itself and we can start over.

Lottery ticket sales increase across country
This is a sign of the times, more people have lost faith in the system. Crime is up, gambling is up, suicide is up, corruption is up. The people need a savior and not the political kind, a real statesman. I regulate my self but the temptation to overdo it is present and very powerful. It takes every ounce of willpower I have to stop at $5 tickets a week on online games only, bear in mind I live in MA where we have $5 scratch tickets that can earn you $1,000,000. So far so good.

Michigan does not have the Death Penalty, and as someone who has lived in Michigan all my life except my time in the service Michigan was always home. Detroit has gotten a bad rap yes there is and was corruption in the political offices, haven't liked the comments by Newt Gingrich, on what a failure Detroit is we weren't and are not the reason this country is in the state it is now, come visit and let us show how we take care of own Newt. Sorry about the rant but we all get condemned by the acti

$218 MILLION: Powerball lottery jackpot increased
Good luck to you also. 'preciate the thought of coming to your victory party, but I'm one that tends to respect people's privacy, and that goes double for celebs. You know, do unto others as you would have them do unto you. I even walked out of a cosy little four table place in the Quarter in New Orleans back in '78 because the only other patrons in the place were Mick and Bianca Jagger; and at the time, I was as big a fan as you could get. Finally, I share your distrust of the gobbermint in

Missouri Senate to discuss privatizing state lottery
I'd like to point out that the reason Lotteries were outlawed years ago was due to corruption. When they returned, it was under the guidance of the states, who are accountable to the public. As far as government examples - there are many. A lot of public services are managed by governments - water supplies and road administration come to mind, although certainly not all - for exactly the reason that it saves taxpayer money by removing the profit motive. Governments provide services, and

And another thing, do lotteries ever get audited? I mean by a true, individual, separate non-affiliated audit group? I dont know how they couldnt but it just seems there could easily be so much corruption in lottery but in todays world, post-Enron, it seems lotteries would be tightly audited (and casinos for that matter)

Amendment X The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Furthermore, the power and authority and sovereignty the federal government has usurped from the states in the total corruption of the Commerce Clause is a crime that should not go unpunished for all those guilty of it and still living (In my humble o

NYS lotto scratch off dirtly little secrets that they do not want you to know about. READ THIS
What an excellent inquiry. We need more people like you in all states taking lottery officials to task. NYS Lottery is especially suspect because they're the ones that refused to cooperate with a Dateline investigation into corruption. Why would they be against that???? I'm in FL, but I suppose the same thing applies. I've always been uneasy about scratch-offs, and just recently I stopped playing them altogether. We have a new instant online game called Lucky Lines, which I like a lot bet

Tell that to the guy that was in jail for 27years innocent. The system is not 100% perfect, but it's the best system we have. Unfortunately for that guy, it didn't work, but the system is designed to work as close as possible to truth and integrity. There will always be holes within that system, like corruption, and that guy fell thru it. Or it could be a myriad of other circumstances which led to the unjust guilty decision.

Which states and lottery games will you play once online gambling is legal?
If the pre-tests are a result of the corruption in PA years ago, wouldn't it better to have transparency in the process now? What harm is there in letting players see the pre-tests and know the numbers? We need to be convinced of legitimacy, not them! Afterall, if it was the lottery people who corrupted the system last time, why are we allowing them to be the arbitrators of legitimacy now? This is like The Wizard of Oz saying Pay No Attention To The Man Behind The Curtain! Screw that,
