hey he made the 1st call about winning an annuity, that it isnt a lot of money. once the time is up he has to have something to live on after. good luck to the guy. there is 1 real estate deal he should buy and thats a place to live.

For the Millionth Time...
I came back to edit it and was a minute too late with clicking the submit button. I wanted to clarify and correct something I forgot to subtract the first payment from the annuity as well.

Young lottery winner stakes hopes on Wrestling show
I wouldn't' hope he fails, but I have a feeling that he will. It's a shame he didn't win more money, or take the annuity so a bad investment like this wouldn't completely ruin him. Oh well. Hopefully he won't be flipping burgers in a few years.

2 lottery tickets split $333M Mega Millions jackpot
Also, in Texas, if you don't choose at the time of purchase, you are automatically assigned the annuity choice. That's for the jackpot only.

2 lottery tickets split $333M Mega Millions jackpot
I read on some website from New York that that person decided to take the annuity. How is it possible that they know even though the lottery office is closed until Monday?

$325 MILLION: Mega Millions lottery jackpot rolls again
Hmm? No it would be just over half that, 325/25 = 13M, then there's the taxes now and after the rates go back up and no telling where they'll go from there. Then there's the state income tax if your state has one which could always go up (and probably will over the next couple decades) as well. Never mind what your community might try to pull with raising taxes, though at least you can always move out. However with the annuity you're going to be paying those state taxes until the annuity runs ou

Cash Option vs Annuity
I have flip-flopped on this topic a few times. Originally, I was all for the Cash Option. Heck, I could invest it and possibly make more or the same - and I'm in charge.
Then I thought about it. Personally, my spouse and I could use some discipline when it comes to money. Mostly our debt is from old medical bills, an occasional vacation, and that stupid hdtv that HAD to be bought when our tv died. So then I thought an annuity would be good for helping us budget. And yes, we would get a financ

Massive sales push Powerball lottery jackpot to $250M
Why is nobody talking about MegaMillions? It seems that only PB gets all the updates when the JP increases. MM is up there, and the cash option is actually slightly behind PB, despite the annuity total being 40M behind.

Cash Option vs Annuity
I agree with Grovel and Coin Toss. I would take the Cash Option and choose where and how to invest it myself. But I do understand why some people would feel more comfortable choosing Annuity. It just wouldn't be the option that I would choose.
