In 184 of the 280 Powerball drawings none of the numbers 03 08 12 23 36 53 came up. Eliminating these numbers from the pool of 53 numbers could had reduced the odds of winning from 1:120M to 1:72M during those 184 draws. I doubt if anyone takes advantage of that fact even though everyone is aware that these numbers have hit less than 20 times each during all 280 drawings because tilting the odds by 40% during 65% of the drawings is not enough to make a difference to the average lottery player.

rj:I'm not confused. I know that if I hit Powerball, I will choose lump sum, and I will receive the full amount of the jackpot pool in cash, which currently is more than half of the annuity amount.

MegaMillions isn't available in Louisiana so I play Powerball. I'll probably still stick to my rule of playing only when it gets above $100 million, in my partnership with my friend at work, and in any pool they start at work.If I get to a state that offers MegaMillions, I will buy a ticket if the opportunity arises.PrisonerSix

Powerball will never get rid of their match 5 bonus pool rule because they said it would discourage players from playing, since according to them, some players play only when there is a record, and if they made a record at $700 million, they'd miss out on records at $400 million, $500 million, etc.

Thanks everyone for the informative responses. I have picked up from you a couple of idean I want to explore.Todd: On that drawing date my first number pool was 40. This is generally consistant because that initial pool ranges from lower 30's to lower 40's. From that 40 group I selected 32 numvbers from my number selection sheet.Please understand that I am not very in to wheels. JS9,You were talking about a game change requiring a software modification (for the larger number pool), and I said that allowing the machines to have a Quick Pick only on the Mega Ball would require a software change. Two separate things, two separate software changes.

a way that i have eliminated some of my problem that you have , was to expand my number pool , and then filter out the unwanted numbers in a wheel, using a full wheel , or a key wheel that is available here at LP. Give it a try, it might iridicate some of your problems also..... good luck.!

lottery ticket purchasesReply
I hate the stores with long lines and hateful cashiers. That drives me nuts. I ask for 4 $10 tickets and they say god I hope you don't blow all your money this way. I tell them I'll spend my money however I choose. One cashier even said I need to call G.A. just for buying $50 in tickets for my friends and myself. (15 friends took a pool for powerball a few weeks ago).
