Michigan $42M lottery winner to claim jackpot today
I wouldn't choose an annuity payment, especially the way the economy is. But I wasn't the winner, so I guess it really doesn't matter.

New York $20 Scratch-Off ticket for $1 million a year for Life!
The one $1,000,000/life winner in the MA game comes from a drawing of all $1K-$25K winners (i.e. you hit one of those winners, you cash the ticket and it goes into a drawing at some point in the future for the lifetiime prize). The top instant win on this ticket is a $10,000,000 annuity ($500,000/20 yrs).

Cash or annuity
I have always been a cash guy, but with the FDIC only insuring $100,000 and the current powerball jackpot, I would consider annuity strongly. Guaranteed check for a couple of million or so every year, and to go up, minimal investing and worries, and a TON of money later on waiting. Although I would prefer the cash if there was more insurance and security.

Cash or annuity
Heck you're worried about the banks going under . Look what just happened to AIG and the 85 billion our Government is going to bail them out with! AIG and other big insurance companies issue annuities and you think the money is safer as an annuity that's been issued from a State or Federal Government entity? Where do you think they get that annuity from they gave you! From those same insurance companies and brokerage firms that are all going under from mismanaging their clients money!

Cash or annuity
What do you suppose would happen to your annuity if all the banks other winners are keeping their money in go under? Just because you still get your check for 500 grand every year doesn't mean things are still rosy. Have you checked on the price of a loaf of bread in Zimbabwe?

Cash or annuity
annuity. I don't know what I would do with all of that $$$ at one time. I would be afraid the banks I had it in would go under

Cash or annuity
I never would have taken annuity for the fact that I don't like to owe money.if I was going to buy a house or car I want to pay in full and not owe anything on it.

Cash or annuity
I chose the cash when it first was available. I could never look back. The annuity never appealed to me. One reason is that my life priorities change every 6 months or so, delegated by circumstances either in my control or out....lol

Within the next 2 months...
I've decided that I'm winning the jackpot of this Friday night's Mega Millions drawing. So look for my I won a 95 million dollar annuity topic late Friday/early Saturday following the numbers being put up. And I'm not giving it away except for if it benefits me come tax time.

has anyone here actually hit the lottery
That I don't remember. It was somewhere around 3 to 5 million annuity. Thankfully I have a mental block on that. My brain feels like popping pop corn when I try to remember that.
