Winning and Moving to Income Tax Free State
If you choose annuity payments and later move to NC from FL, NC would tax you on every payment you receive while a resident of the state, but would not tax you on any payments you receive before or after being a resident there.

Amarillo Mega Winner
Actually, it's people who prefer ANNUITY who never win. I live in NY. We don't have the Megaplier, but like in Texas, you have to choose lump sum or 26 annual payments when you play MM, instead of after winning.

How would you split up your $30 million jackpot?
ummmm..... well I would spend about 2 mill on various properties......put 5mill into a 20yr annuity and stash the rest away for a rainy day i guess.......

Any more Raffles coming up ?
The NY raffle actually will be a scratch ticket. And given the recent history of the NY Lottery, it's almost certain that the million-dollar prizes will be annuity-only.

Connecticut lottery machines offline for hours
What sounds cranky? The bit about only a moron getting their advice online? I suppose a few people might disagree, but I can't imagine relying on free advice from an online forum for anything important like tax or legal matters. Things that are a matter of opinion or subject to debate, maybe, but not anything that's a matter of fact or has real consequences.
I wouldn't expect to have to file a Pa form if winnings are exemp, but I considered that government beauracracy might As far as $2

Fresh Questions Anybody?
I'm not sure it's fair to list cash vs annuity as a recurring question. I think it's the same one and just won't die. It fades away for a couple of days, but then somebody (and I'm not naming names) brings it up again.

Kentucky Lottery raffle tickets now on sale
Well I won't kick an annuity of of bed if I win tomorrow night. I'd just sell her on the street corner, and pay the AMT instead of waiting 20 years to collect.

Powerball hits triple digits
Powerball hit $100 Million annuity for Wednesday's drawing. If no one wins Mega Millions on Tuesday it too might hit the triple digit range. Looks like we'll start off 2007 with a bang. Let the ticket frenzy begin!

$208M Lottery Winner Dies At Age 43
He would have had more money to enjoy (or give to charities of his own choosing) by taking the cash option, during his remaining few years, but of course he didn't know what his future actually was. I might choose Annuity on a big enough jackpot.

To my fellow LP members
Of course Ohio will still have MM. In fact, MM is better than Ohio Classic Lotto (just as MM is better than Lot O'Play) because the cash value of the MM annuity floats, while the percentage of Ohio Classic Lotto will be 50%. Ohio stiffs lump-sum winners of in-state games, but not MM cash value winners.
