To my fellow LP members
Very good point. All lottery players who live in or visit NY should push for a minimum 50% payout in NY Lotto, and an end to annuity-only scratch games (including cash options on lifetime payouts.) There are 19 million alone who live in NY state, so I cannot make the NY Lottery change by myself.

which is best--powerball or mega millions
I don't know if anyone follows it or cares, but I regularly post the expectation value for these games. The expectation value is the possible reward (the prize size) divided by the odds of winning it. I bet with an expectation value of 1.00 is considered a good bet. Typically neither of these lotteries become a good bet until the prize is well over an advertised annuity value of over $200,000,000. The annuity values of both games are fraudulent in that they do not record the actual val

Lucky For Life
I'm glad you are looking forward to playing Mix Match, which debuts January 23, 2007 (first drawing 1/25/2007.) I do forsee some problems (will some media give the numbers in ascending order, rather than exactly as they come out), but, since it's not annuity-only, M M will be a much better game than the one it replaces.

Lucky For Life
A lifetime prison sentence might be unlucky for life, but to think of a lifetime of checks as being unlucky would make you an idiot. As well as to assume that not having a cash option is bad for a game you do not even play, and just because you are 60 years old or more; don't assume that many younger people would not want an annuity. I would be fine accepting it.

Ohio is bringing in the Classic Lotto and getting rid of Lot O Play!!
Ohio has made stupid lottery decisions before and had to reversed them. The worst was years ago when they put a $20M limit on the amount of annuity one lottery ticket could win. At the time people in neighboring states also played Ohio SuperLotto and jackpots got as high $70M but after that they stopped coming to Ohio to play and the jackpot amounts declined that decision was reversed about 8 months later.

What is up with MM/PB
Yes, that's based on cash value. I may have confused things with the comment about jackpots from 12 to 300 million, since those amounts reflect advertised annuity values.

What is up with MM/PB
In the first 4 months of 2006, MM produced 2 jackpots of more than $260M, annuity, paying $160M in cash and $149M in cash. Each of these pots took more than 2 months to build. Statistically, these jackpots are very unlikely. The model I've developed indicates that from start of a run, it has a 51% chance of rolling 7 times. The actual length of MM runs in 2006 thus far is 7.6, meaning the MM lottery is being won slightly less than expected. There are bound to be big jackpots, and th

On this raffle drawing...seems like good odds, but then when i started looking closer at our raffles compared to other states, it doesn't appear to be that good after all. First and foremost is the pathetic greed of the good old MSL.....our $1 million is paid out in a annuity form as with all the other states it is CASH...just leave it to the MSL to come up with a way to cheapen the way you can win. Whats next...annutiy on the 4 digit payouts? ....LOL
