UK lottery sales rise by 5%
Either this is due to vendors like PTS or scratch/small games. Their jackpots for lotto have only hit 14-15M a few times. Also the record Euromillions pot has a lot to due with it.

Mega Millions lottery jackpot increases to $94 million
Shay, we did have a couple of decent Jackpots here in GA over the last couple of years....
One in Washington, Ga I recall for >$100 Mil and one in Fitzgerald for over $300 Mil when the MM was known as the Big Game.
But I agree, we need to have us some more winners !!!
Go buy your tickets at that lucky store in Americus-- Wayne's World, I believe it is... They have sold 2 or 3 Jackpots....

New Jersey Cash 5 --BIG BUCKS--
Yeah, it gets up that high every once and a while...with 40 balls the odds are higher than most Cash 5 games. After someone hit this pot, there where then 3 jackpots in a row that were hit. Someone's winning them, but it ain't me (yet)! Hit several 4of5,which pays out well, as Cash 5's go.

Winning Numbers for 5/9/06
You have suggested 13 white balls and 6 megaballs. Sounds similar to the MADDOG MM challenge. Most time in that challenge someone usually scores 3+0 or higher every time but no one has won a second place prize yet. Ohioans have won the last 3 jackpots, I would like to continue that run by winning myself. Good luck to you.

why didn't i see the pattern in PB
Yeah, Powerball and Mega Millions can't have opening cash jackpots of around $7 million if they didn't have such astronomical odds. A guaranteed $7 million cash jackpot with odds of, say, 18 million to one, would put many lotteries in the red, and you can't win a bankrupt lottery.

Why an Annuity?
State lotteries jackpots started out as annuities. Cash options were offered later after some winners (especially the older ones) were selling their prizes for an amount of cash much less than their real value which was an issue. Now that winners have a choice of taking the cash value of their prize from the get go, it's no longer an issue. You seem to be arguing that now because the cash option is offered to the winners the jackpot should be advertised differently, would it be more honest to

Do Playing Quick Picks Ever Work??
I hear the numbers from LOST are the second most played combination in the UK 6/49, that must have something to do with why jackpots take so long to be hit sometimes. The rollover creates more LOST number players, not just more unique combinations played. I wonder if every combination is ever played, I doubt it. Of course the lottery could always make a Quick Pick program that chews through every combination before giving out the same combination twice, just isn't good for business. BobP

Why an Annuity?
I would have NO problem if Canada went to annuity jackpots. Provided of course that ALL their games would continue to have a cash option, as IMO they would.

illegal immigrants poll
The solution's too simple to justify the ten pages of comments.
Don't let illegal aliens claim lottery jackpots.
Make them hire someone who's here legally to claim it for them.
If aliens were as good at winning jackpots as they are at giving a day of work for a day of pay, I'd go into the business of making the claims for them. No more than 10 percent fee after all taxes.

Mega Draw
Part of it was a change made to how they deal with jackpots in Super 7. I kind of doubt they had 32.5 million unclaimed. Most bonus drawings are far smaller than this.
