Few filing claims in $4.3 million lottery scam settlement; deadline Jan. 7
Victims of the largest lottery scam in U.S. history are expected to pocket only a small fraction of a $4.3 million settlement because of a lack of applicants laying claim to the money, court records show.
But it's not too late.
Claims can be made online through Jan. 7 and those for $10 or less require no proof of purchase.
Larger ones require receipts dating back as far as 14 years.
If you're claiming more than $10 they sure made it difficult, said Craig Johnson, a Manson resident w

Court rejects Colorado man's claim to full $4.8M lottery jackpot he unwittingly split with scammers
Even though Amir Massihzadeh of Boulder, Colorado, was the only legitimate winner of a Colorado Lotto jackpot worth $4.8 million in 2005, he's not eligible to claim the full winnings, the Colorado Court of Appeals ruled in a decision released Thursday.
Massihzadeh, one of three ticket holders to win that jackpot, accepted his prize of $568,990, after taxes. But 10 years later, a criminal investigation exposed a scheme to rig lotteries across state lines, and officials determined the other two

The same glitch involving identical numbers drawn consecutively or nearly consecutively occurred again in the past two weeks in Arizona, prompting state officials to offer players a refund.

Do Rng Computers Know What Numbers Not To Pick?
Your characterization that people are the weak point is true, but your scenario for making it work for lottery drawings still has problems that prevent RNGs from being a good drawing method.
For one, the lotteries (or any organization trying to protect the integrity of its RNG) would never provide a running stream of the output, for fear that a vulnerability could possibly be discovered. Secondly, it still doesn't provide protection against a hacker. The lotteries today do use hardware-based

Keno players cash in on lottery glitch in Delaware
The luck has run out for some lottery winners in Delaware after state officials realized that a glitch meant the exact same winning numbers were drawn for six Keno games.
Sam Patel, owner of the Convenient Store in Wilmington, Delaware, says last week's glitch with the Keno Lottery game had business booming. He didn't realize something was wrong until a customer hit it big.
She was screaming again, 'Oh my God, oh my God. The same numbers are coming out again. Well, at that point she got m

Tenn. Lottery CEO claims sales unhurt by numerous errors
Tennessee Lottery chief Rebecca Hargrove said Monday there's no sign that players have lost confidence despite a daily drawings computer glitch.
A July switch to computerized drawings had incorrectly prevented repeat numbers in the drawings until a programming error was fixed in August. The error meant that no winning draw included duplicate numerals, so any ticket holder who had bet on a number like 2-2-1 or 7-7-7-7 wasn't going to win.
But quarterly sales for Cash 3 tickets sales rose 5
